This area of Oaxaca is definitely rural. If you're unfamiliar with what that means, or you're hesitant to "rough it" slightly, then I'd suggest staying in Puerto Escondido, or somewhere that the cruise ships dock. Otherwise, this home is perfect. It's basically a cabin in the woods. Quiet, clean, but definitely "basic" - screens for windows, electricity yes, kitchen outside, concrete floors, no luxuries, but you're here for the beach not to sit and watch television. For me, it's perfect for a weekend away from things. The owner, James, is very nice and friendly, and judgment free which is excellent.

It’s a good place, well located and clean. Location is good even though it is not right on the beach. It’s a 3 minute walk to the beach and also a 5 minute taxi ride from La Punta or Carrizalillo in the other direction. There are also several restaurants right next to it in case you don’t feel like walking to Zicatela
