I love this clinic so far. Took my pup in for his first visit and youd swear you were best friends with everyone there. They treated him so kindly and introduced him to everyone there so he would be more comfortable. Our doctor was fantastic with him as well. Definitely worth the price.

We have taken our dogs to Aboite Animal Hospital since it first opened many years ago and have always received excellent care. At the saddest of times when we had to say goodbye to a pet, the staff was always caring and compassionate. We especially love Dr. Koch for her gentle touch and willingness to take time to listen and care for our dogs. Everyone on the front desk is likewise friendly, helpful and caring. I can't imagine using any other vet service.

In response to your posting, I appreciate your deepest condolences, however, I did call your vet and request permission to bring Max in to your clinic that day so he could get fluids. In fact I argued with the male tech who took my call and voiced my displeasure, because he would NOT allow me to bring Max to your clinic that day for fluids. The reason I took Max to the ER vet was not because I wanted to, it was because I had to. I had no other option. Also, Dr. Chastain was not the vet treating Max. It was Parker.nResponse from the owner2 weeks agonWe offer our deepest condolences to the loss of Max. Dr. Chastain left a message to discuss what happened after reviewing the case and was wanting to answer any questions you may have had or listen to your concerns. Due to Max's diabetes and chronic lower airway disease (which was diagnosed and confirmed on radiographs with a radiologist), it left his immune system compromised, which made him more susceptible to infection. Chronic lower airway disease (also known as bronchitis) can definitely cause coughing, causing some days to be worse than others. We tried a trial of steroids, but Max unfortunately didn't tolerate those well, so they were discontinued. Antibiotics and cough suppressants were prescribed and given on multiple occasions as well. Unfortunately, in an immunocompromised patient, infections can arise suddenly, as did the pneumonia that we diagnosed that Monday. That following day, you called because you were concerned about Max's condition and that he was dehydrated. The only doctor we had in the hospital at the time was in surgery, so we offered you to bring him in for fluids and the doctor could assess him in-between surgeries. We also mentioned that taking him to the ER vet was an option if you thought the situation was urgent. It was declined bringing him to us, so Max was taken to the ER. Based on their doctor notes, Max's condition had declined rapidly. We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Max, and we're hopeful that you'll reach out to us so we can discuss any additional concerns.

Very kind, professional, and compassionate! I have trusted Dr. Chastain for many years now. I have a great amount of respect for him and the staff. They are transparent and always have your furry loved one's best interest at heart.

I've been taking my pets to Aboite Animal on Illinois Rd for nearly 20 years. Dr. Roger's was the best. Since Dr. Roger's retirement there has been a significant drop off in quality care. My chocolate lab had developed a persistent cough/hack roughly 8-10 months ago. I had him at the vet a lot. The vet said it was most likely chronic bronchitis. Cough never went away. I had Max in the vet regularly over concerns of his symptoms. Every time I was told it's his bronchitis. Over last couple weeks his cough got worse. I had Max back in the vet a couple different times over those two weeks. Same diagnosis. Within last week Max's cough continued and his appetite was reduced. Not eating like usual. Again took Max to the vet and was told it's his bronchitis. Yesterday I took Max to aboite animal but saw a different vet there. She ran more x-rays and radiologist diagnosed Max with pneumonia. I struggled to get him to eat and drink yesterday. This morning, his breathing was rough, couldn't walk, eat, drink etc. He was clearly dehydrated. Called the vet to try and bring him in to give fluids and rehydrate. They didnt have room for him. Told me I had to take him to emergency care clinic. I took him to ER vet. Emergency vet told me he was pretty far gone. Temp was 106. Lost a lot of weight, dehydrated, etc. Would have been an uphill battle to recover and most likely would have suffered during recovery. Today we had to euthanize Max. I've had it with aboite animal. I'm transferring my other pet's care to another clinic.
