Alexander Funeral Home-West Chapel

My brother in law, a retired (20 year) veteran, had his service there and I feel like this funeral home has no compassion or care for loved ones. We asked for a military service, which is fully done by the funeral home. Once the reviewing started we noticed nothing was set up and no color guard was present. Upon talking to them we were told there was a time conflict and it was not going to happen. My husband has been in the Army for 22 years and we both are involved in many different veteran organizations. My husband has also done many funeral details. Something didn’t add up, so we walked down to the VFW that is literally next door. We found out that there has been a lot of veteran issues associated with this funeral home. Once back with less than 20 minutes before the service was suppose to start, I spoke to the lady in charge. After going around and around in circles and blaming the volunteers who do the details and then stating no local units could help because it has to be the same branch of the deceased veteran (which is a total lie) she came out and told me what happen was the funeral director was the one who set up the military service but he did not confirm the time, so no one came. The funeral director did not confirm a 20 year retired veterans military service for a funeral that was scheduled 9 days after his death. There is no compassion or care from this company. They are full of excuses and disrespect. What upsets me more than anything was the fact that they never said anything about it. They acted like we wouldn’t notice as my husband stood there in full dress. Save your time and go somewhere else.

I worked with Dan Gross at Alexander's to make my personal arrangements. Dan was excellent and took time to allow me to discuss and express my wishes for my burial. This is an important and somewhat difficult thing to do and I appreciate Dan's knowledge and support.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! My family has used this funeral homes for decades. My mother (whose arrangements were pre-paid with Alexander) died in another state and Alexander funeral home dropped the ball! Phone calls were not returned for days. Connecting with Alexander West funeral director was impossible...never happened. I had sales people return my call, implying they were the director. Even the funeral director from the other state (who was handling my mother's remains) agreed that the customer service with Alexander was not up to standards. I will be sharing this information with all my family members who still live in Evansville, IN.

Alexander staff were consistently considerate and helpful. I found them patient and understanding. My parents had prepaid funeral arrangements in the late 80’s and many things were much less expensive then. Alexander staff did their best to help us juggle expenses and benefits so that our loved one had a decent burial within the forty year old budget without adding stress to an already stressful situation.

A great experience. I've known the Alexander family for years, I have used their services for three of my family funerals and are happy to use them for my wife and my funerals.
