Silver Creek Veterinary Clinic

3 years ago...nnHad to take my 15 year old dog in to be euthanized this morning. The front office worker/tech was very nice and accommodating. The doctor was cold, indifferent and frankly came off like an a-hole. Once we got the dog into the back to get the euthanasia under way, I was horrified to see him only take one needle and vial out. He put my dog down in one dose. No soothing dose to relax or sedate her, just (I assume the barbiturates) to take her out. 5 seconds after the injection she tensed up and let out a yelp. His response, “that got her”. I was mortified and in complete shock. Then to top it off he brings out a bag to put her in while I’m on the phone with faithful companions and haven’t even paid for the cremation and pickup yet. They were still getting all my info. The tech/receptionist did her best to comfort me but I knew that my dog was put down inhumanly and I wouldn’t recommend this jerk to my worst enemy.

I wish I would have read through the reviews first, but I was desperate to have my very ill, senior dog, seen and this was the first place that could see him the same day.nAs others have stated, the receptionist was friendly and warm, but the vet lacked compassion or empathy. I arrived prior to their noon closing time and the vet was very clearly annoyed with our presence, and I could hear him complaining in the back room to his receptionist about it. Never would I return or recommend this practice. He made a difficult situation that much worse.

Dr. hannigan and his wife are a great team. Dr. Hannigan is the strong and silent type, but has always been helpful and caring towards my pups!

The Vet literally yelled at me and told me it was people “like me” who were the reason he’s “his age” and has to have a second mortgage on his practice because I couldn’t afford his spaying prices. I truly was in tears standing there at the check out while he continued to yell at me, then turned his back and walked away. I had taken my puppy to him for two months, every week or two, and spent probably $600 trying different meds to get her well. I’ve never left a “professional” office and cried hysterically in my car before, but I sure did that day. He ONLY cares about his mortgage problems and not your pet!!! His wife, Denise, is a wonderful and caring person however. You could tell that she was mortified by his behavior.

My puppy developed a cough and started vomiting clear mucus on Tuesday. I called my established vet (Latimer) who said they did not have any openings until Thursday! I had a friend to refer me to Sellersburg vet and so I called them and they said they would see her immediately. He gave her an antibiotic . I was very grateful that he was able to see her even though she had never been there before. I will definitely be taking her back to see Dr. Hannigan.
