First Avenue Funeral Services

During the surge of the pandemic my aunt passed away it was so hard for my family to find any Funeral Homes taking cases. We got referred from one Funeral Home to First Ave Funeral Home. Everything was arranged money was paid no viewings were allowed at that time. The day of the Burial we get there before they get there with my aunt. The surprise and utter pain in my families eyes and heart. We picked out a casket white paid X amount for it. The brung my aunt out in a Plywood casket Homemade. Her kids were in tears we were stunned by what we just saw. When we called them and said that’s not what we paid for we’re not allowing her to be buried this way. Return to the Funeral Home their reply was we didn’t have the box you picked out.. Total BS excuse a simple phone call would have fixed everything we would’ve simply picked out a new Casket or wait till they are available in stock. Worst experience of our lives. Not only losing a loved one but also seeing what was trying to be done by the service we paid for. Truly sad people would take advantage like this..

No stars!!!!!nI paid for my mother’s tombstone it took them over a year to place it at the cemetery !!! When the tombstone was finally placed it was awful it was not the size that I paid for and my mother’s picture that I paid for was also not on the tombstone they basically kept my money and told me there was nothing they can do about it!! Females that run the monument store are lairs thieves they are very fast talkers that never gets the job done I do not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to lose your money.

Very rude staff and they dont care about your emotions .if you love your deceased member dont choose this organisation .they are very insensitive and very stone hearted.

I used this funeral home for my moms service.nnPros: My mom looked beautiful for her service. They made the upstairs chapel look very nice for her service. My moms ashes were back in a week. They communicate well & prices are a lot more affordable then other funeral homes.nnCons: the staff here is not the most sympathetic. The chapels are really small. The upstairs chapel is bigger than the one on the first floor though. The pastor they hired for my mom service spoke for all of 15 minutes. my family didn’t make a big fuss about it, but I did complained to one of the directors. He apologized and said he would get back to me but never did.nnOverall, they did what needed to be done! My mom was the most important & she looked beautiful. The day of the service went very smoothly. The person working there that day name was Yvette. She was great. We had a pretty large crowd and she was very kind and accommodating.

Very small business but love and family feels like home ..
