They got my cat in fast and he’ll be comfortable over the weekend. Thank goodness. I had called every vet in Lawrence and they are all booked out 4 weeks.

Very disappointing. His staff and receptionist were very kind and caring but Dr Van Petten was terrible. I brought my dog in after being referred to his office. My 6 year old dog was having trouble walking and our regular vet recommended we try acupuncture with Dr Van Petten. I had heard about him and knew some people who had good luck with his office so we were glad to give it a try.nnDuring the initial exam my dog was scared and not wanting to hold still while Dr Van Petten looked at her. He called in one of his assistants to help. The young assistant was doing the best she could but Dr Van Petten repeatedly snapped at her about it. He never made any suggestions about what she could try to do differently, just belittled her about it in front of a client. It was rude and very unprofessional. After that visit, he recommended I bring my dog in for 4-5 more treatments at about $125 per visit. I brought my dog in 3 more times all about a week a part. She continued to deteriorate, and by the last 2 visits it was drastic enough she was unable to walk. Every time we came in I asked him how he thought she was doing and if it was worth continuing the treatments when she was getting so much worse. Each time he said he thought we were going to see improvement soon and should keep going. When my dog got to the point she couldn't get up at all we took her back to our regular vet. They were shocked by how badly she had progressed. That vet believed my dog probably had a growing spinal tumor that was causing her issues. We decided at that time to have her euthanized. I don't feel that Dr Van Petten's treatments caused any of her problems but he definitely lead us to believe that what was happening to her was normal or even what he expected. If we hadn't gone to his office, we would not have let our dog suffer needlessly just so he could make a buck.

Just wish the covid-19 so we could actually go in the vet with our animals

The Dr. and his staff are amazing and extremely caring. They treat each of our animals with care and compassion and are there for you at any time. I would recommend them to anyone.

Not impressed. Very few words were spoken to me. My fur babies were not talked to either. It was quite bizarre. Don’t feel comfortable taking my babies back. Need to find a new vet I guess.
