Had to make the sad decision to put our German Shepard down recently, they were extremely caring and accommodated us as best they could by doing it in the grass in the back with a blanket so our family could be there with him. Very kind and responsive staff.
Dr. Jon is great...he takes care of our family cats and dogs. We have used Portland Vet for 20+ years.
My dogs and cats have always had excellent care and surgeries over the years. However last surgery did not happen as agreed to. Dr John needs to confer with Dr that takes in patient for surgery and read report, not make just one phone call then go into surgery like he was going to replace a band aid. If Dr John followed what I believe is mandatory pre surgery protocol this mistake on my cats tail would not have happened. Dr John had very clear instructions on what cell number to call and to this day he continues to use wrong number. Dr John needs to hear his short comming and change the way he does things.
Today was the second time I had an issue with Dr. Jon G. The first incident we had here I took my dog in because she wouldn’t use her leg and screamed in pain when it was touched, we took her in and he told us it was because her nails were too long. I took her to get a second opinion and found out she needed to be operated on because her knee was continuously dislocating, something common for her breed that he did not even look for. Today I took my dog in with an itchy ear and with black earwax in her ear. He told me her ear was perfectly clean and healthy so again I asked another vet who then said her ear needed to be cleaned out and said she had a wax buildup with some yeast in it, most likely due to an allergic reaction. This was the second chance I gave Portland vet, and will not return.
