I've been attending this veterinary practice for 15+ years for various pets (newfoundlands, cats, and a chihuahua) and have always found them to be the best option of anywhere in the area. When I adopted a cat from a friend and she was going to a different vet, after taking her there for several months I had her transferred to Winsted Hospital because the service at the other place couldn't compare. The staff is much more respectful, knowledgeable, and friendly than anywhere else I've been. The atmosphere comes off as being a much more high-end place and is very comfortable. I'm confident in the care I receive here even though I'm extremely picky and my pets are like my kids. If there was a better place I would go there.

I have been a client of Winsted Hospital for Animals for over 25 years. My kids, both human and furry, are always warmly greeted by the wonderful and knowledgeable staff. At each visit, my concerns are properly and completely addressed, and no stone is left unturned. Dr Donoghue is thorough, compassionate, and truly makes a connection with her patients and their families. The pandemic has been uncharted territory for all of us, and Winsted Hospital for Animals has continued to serve the community and not skipped a beat. Highly recommend them!

Within the last year, we’ve had to visit Winsted Hospital for Animals quite a bit. They have been very reliable, sensitive to not only our animals’ needs, but our needs as pet owners, and also take the time to answer ANY questions. We will always recommend them, for their staff being very personable and friendly, working with you when it comes to billing and appointments, and because they handle our pets with care and affection as if they were their own. Thank you!

This place has gone down hill since Dr. Kellogg passed away. Make no mistake, the vets after him were mostly polite, save for one who gave me attitude and wrong advice on my puppy 6 years ago, suggesting a highly risky orthopedic surgery when the solution was to change her food (as I suggested, not that I am a vet or extensively trained in veterinary medicine). Prior to then, we brought in our 8 year old lab who had suffered a freak stroke (or neurological event) and was suffering. We made the difficult decision to euthanize him. On the phone the office staff was rude and not at all understanding. No option for payment arrangements on something that came out of the blue and was very stressful for us. Once our dog had passed, the vet left us alone with him to grieve and said she'd come back. After ten minutes, no one came back to check on us so we left the room. Immediately, payment was demanded. We had to pay our bill, in tears, in front of everyone in the waiting area. No separate door to leave through, just one way out to be a spectacle for all to watch. I found myself recently calling them with an emergency for our adopted american bulldog and was given attitude for not having brought him in more recently, though his vet care was up to date through Petco clinics as also verified by the animal control officer and our town (way more affordable for routine shots/check ups). Office staff was again rude, told me it had been some time since he was seen by them and then told me they had nothing until a month out. We will never return to this place, as if it would even be an option with no appointments available in present time. People who are in the business to care for animals should do so, and show a little compassion to the people that take care of them. Shame on you Winsted Hospital for Animals!

My family and I have been bringing our pets here since 2006 and have have never even had to question going somewhere else. They have always been very nice, caring, and helpful. They don’t try to push extra products or services on you, and let you know when something is highly recommended. All pricing is straight forward and very reasonable. 10/10
