Dr Polowsky saw my dog and I felt she was competent but she had me very nervous prior to getting back what was a routine X-ray on my dog’s leg that was a year post op after a surgery on an ACL tear, suggesting it could be cancer. Why even say that unless you have already seen the X-ray and saw cancer? Thankfully it wasn’t. I almost passed out while waiting for her to read the X-ray, the panic was too much. I also felt the visit was pricey, even for getting X-rays, which I asked for. They don’t even send home an itemized receipt to show what was done, only a regular receipt, and I have never been to a vet who doesn’t give you an itemized receipt. It seemed shady, like they were hiding their prices. Then I scheduled an appointment a few weeks later for my other dog and they misunderstood what I needed done for her, so the DAY BEFORE they called and canceled it (without even an apology) because they said they didn’t have time, and they couldn’t get her in again for two weeks. What she needed was relatively urgent and with COVID I had to call 15 hospitals to find one to take a new patient. They used that as a plug for their horrific emergency hospital that I had disasters of experiences at (multiple). I’m not going back to any of these Pieper hospitals. Drive a little farther to Wethersfield and go to Beaver Brook!
This place is only great if you have yearly checkups with no issues. Went there a few months ago to get X-rays for my dog who I had believed swallowed a rock. Instructed them I only wanted X-rays as I knew they couldn’t remove it there if there was something foreign in my dogs stomach and I would have to go somewhere else. Did lab work with out my consent (with COVID they wouldn’t let you in the building - they took my dog inside and snuck a blood draw for lab results in). My dog ended up needing surgery and knowing they couldn’t do anything at their location, still racked up my bill only to send me to their Middletown location where the lab work and X-rays had to be repeated anyway before surgery that same day. They knew this and still charged me for services that I didn’t not ask for (knowing surgery couldn’t take place there). They only care about the money, not your pet when they are sick. I pulled my animals charts and will never return again.
Friendly staff, great customer service. Dr. Hunt and Dr. Polawsky have helped our senior cats continue to live a normal life despite their diseases that come with age. Proper and thorough diagnosis and treatment have helped so much!
Can't say enough nice things about their care for the animals. Kind, caring and skillful.
Today was my first time there plus my first vet appointment for my very first puppy. A lot of firsts! . Also during the Covid era. Let me just say that these people have it together! I parked outside the office and called when I was ready for my puppy to be seen. A technician came out and got him took him in and within minutes I was on the phone with the veterinarian. She took her time explaining everything to me knowing that it was my first puppy and I had some questions. She even took her time going in depth into things that I didn’t even ask for. The technician brought my puppy back out to me. My puppy did not look a bit distressed and he had two shots. Another nurse called to take payment over the phone with my debit card. This is by far the best veterinary service I’ve ever received and I don’t even know what the people look like. I sincerely hope I get to meet them in person someday soon!
