De Leon Funeral Home

The staff at De Leon Funeral Home treated my father’s funeral selection like a used car sale. Money was clearly the motive. They were very unprofessional, lacked any empathy for my family and frankly, were very disrespectful towards my family and ever more so towards my father. They made promises they could not keep. They assured us certain services and did not deliver on them. Although this is very hard to talk about and I’m not sure I will ever forget this experience, I think it is important to express how my interactions with De Leon were from beginning to end because it is very clear that they take advantage of people’s vulnerability. Not only did they mistreat my family in the worst possible time, the way the treated my father was absolutely horrendous. Preparation of my father was terrible, there was fluid leaking from his ears. Prior to the wake arrangements were made with De Leon to have a catholic priest attend the wake to say a prayer in my father’s honor. De Leon agreed to find a priest for us. Knowing that my family is catholic, De Leon used a non-catholic church as the venue for the wake. Knowing that the venue was a non-catholic venue, they failed to make any appropriate adjustments when the priest wasn’t able to attend because of the religious differences. Not only was the priest not able to attend, the staff failed to communicate this to us in a reasonable timeframe. In fact, they waited until almost half way through the wake to notify us that the priest would not be coming. Throughout the entire wake, the staff sat in the corner of the church watching over the crowd with disturbed looks on their faces as if they could not wait for the wake to be over. One staff member went as far as shutting off lights on us before our schedule time was over and tried walking us all out! This experience has been nothing less than traumatizing and as much as Jennifer and Lily tried to fix things, lost family members are something that cannot be replaced.

My uncle’s last wish was to be surrounded by friends and family who loved and cared for him. De Leon assured my family that their services would be what we had hoped for and more; we were sadly mistaken. To start, their staff lacked any professional standards and manners, especially towards my family. We were told that they would provide a priest for us to say a prayer for my uncle and bless the family...half way through the wake we were told the priest decided not to come. Instead of finding a replacement, the staff simply shrugged it off and left us to figure it out on our own. The list of atrocities is too great to list but I can and will say that I would think twice, even three times, before rendering the services of De Leon Funeral Home. They will only add to the stress, grief, and heartache.

Last week I attended the wake of a very close friend of mine. Even with the family suffering from a great loss, the staff still found a way to be completely unprofessional, act with a lack of empathy for the grieving family, and were more concerned with ending the wake early and rushing everyone home. Its already hard enough when you lose a loved one, but to have to go through what my friends family had to go dealing with De Leon Funeral Home is a disgrace. .

if you love that being that is no longer with you, this place is not the one to spend the last days, lousy service and nothing professional

This is unbelievable! Too sad to describe it in just words. The staff in this place should be replaced. We where trying to give our father his last good byes and as his will said he wanted a ceremony with a priest and prayer but nooo they had to mess it all up with the rudeness and bitterness. Thanks so much for wrecking the least opportunity of seeing him going away and I hope that the same thing dosen't happen to you because it's awful I rate this place worse than hell unless ofcourse that they replaced the staff and politics.
