Southport Vet is the best Veterinary we have ever used. They are very knowledgeable and they really care about the health of our dog. They have really helped us over the years.

I wish I had read some of the negative reviews before taking our puppy to Southport Vet. They are kind people but prices are extremely high. Before I decided to use them I called to ask about prices and found after multiple visits that they were consistently much higher then what I was originally told. I would not even take the time to write this review if they were fair with us when we decided to go to another vet due to the cost. They had us pay in advance for the Lepto Series shots. We only received one of them and I asked for a refund for the second one as we are not getting it from them and going to another vet for it. They refused to refund us for a shot we did not get and found this to be extremely unfair and rude of them. They could have avoided this review by being fair about it........nnNot to mention they used our puppies picture on their FaceBook page.

I have had my dogs for 7 years and lived all over the United States with them (California, Michigan, North Carolina, northern CT) And I have NEVER had a vet cost anywhere near as much money as Southport Veterinary Center.nnThe owner has made his veterinarians care more about ripping off pet owners than your animals care. They gave me an estimated bill of $1,300 to DIAGNOSE my dog, not even to start treating her, and that’s not counting the $216 I did pay for the URINE TEST (not even a physical exam, just a urine test. I’ve never paid over $50 for a urine sample before). They told me the rigorous and long process that it would take to do this diagnosis, all the visits and lab work it would require, and I knew it wasn’t an easy process but this was more complex than anyone had warned me about. I started telling people about my experience here and they said that sounds so weird and to go to another vet...nnI am SO glad I sought out a second opinion. Just two visits, two lab tests, and her prescriptions at another vet later (so diagnosis and treatment) bill total was $464! That’s $1,000 less than what Southport quoted me at!!!!nnI get it, Southport is a wealthy area. But they were not kind or human when interacting with me, just trying to get me to pay for everything and anything they could. It seemed like a scam and now I know, it was. I recommend going to a vet that will care more for your animals and less about taking as much money from you as possible.nn1 star because the receptionist was always nice.

Prior to Dr. Hart taking over, the rates were cheaper and they were not so stuck up. They never fail to run multiple tests insisting that this is the best option to determine the health of your pet. Always ask whether or not it's necessary because this vet likes to drain as much money out of you as possible. $150 for just a rabis shot and claw cutting for my cat. Ridiculous. That's almost $200.nnMy family has been going to this vet for over 12 years or so and the decline in pricing and customer service has really gone down hill. The receptionists are really arrogant and snarky and have given me an attitude when I have asked basic questions. They are not nice nor patient. My other cat who we had adopted last summer is not going to be going here EVER. I don't have $200 to hash out on a whim. I am really disappointed in their lack of care. This vet is all about money. Money, money, money.nnIf you're willing to put up with arrogant receptionists and waste vast amounts of money feel free to go here.

We had a bad experience at Southport Vet Center about five years ago. It was their office staff not the vet doctors...they're horrible. We complained about our treatment --- especially involving my wife who is disabled by MS -- but before we could fire them they fired us! Literally said we should find another vet and even refused to accept our payment for services provided to our dog. Prior to this we had had a long and very happy relationship with our vet in Florida but had moved here and were looking for a new vet. My wife and I have Ivy League degrees and we practice our faith at a local Episcopalian church. These guys were a really really bad choice--I'll spare you the remaining details---and I wouldn't recommend them to any one. Thankfully we found Mitchell Greenberg, DVM in Easton and he is probably the most compassionate and talented vet you could ever want. And his staff is very nice too.
