Avets has done 3 different emergency surgeries for my pets: twice saved my cat’s life when she had an object stuck in her intestines, once gave my dog the ability to walk again after he became paralyzed. I trust them.nnThe only downside to Avets is that the waits are long. Like duh... it’s an emergency room and every bit as busy as a human emergency room. If you’re there for an emergency, expect to be there 2-4 hours. Pack yourself food and water if you have time to. Just like a human emergency room, they treat the most critical pets coming in the door first. Don’t be miffed about the wait, this is a small emergency room accommodating a huge portion of the Pittsburgh area. I know these people work hard, I’ve seen it.nnAlso can be a bit hard to reach on the phone when the lines are busy. Keep calling you’ll get through.
My cat, Nootzie, was not eating at all and not drinking much at all. I was quite concerned. I am a physician and they did not know that but they figured it out after a few daily updates from them to me. They did not talk down to me initially or ever. They listened to my questions and concerns and were patient with my concerned questions. I felt they did the proper things for her. My cat is quite sweet, lovable, but scared of dogs and noise. They moved her to a quiet place with other cats. She wouldn't eat there, but she let me know on the 45 minute ride home that she was and she ate very well after the ride home and I was so relieved. She had an extensive evaluation. I was reassured about her condition. She is back to her usual self. I am very appreciative of their care.
The help you were able to offer Jaimee, my cat, was very rapid. She was in acute pain and pulmonary distress and you aided her with kindness and compassion. While she had to be euthanized, it was done skillfully and without further suffering. Your diagnostic skills and your appropriate suggestions also in other visits have given me confidence that the animals that require your help are receiving the best care.
You were there for us when we needed you. You supported us through a scary time with our new dog. Dr. Costello kept us informed every step of the way. The team went above and beyond to ensure our Honey received the best care available. Thank you! I love the online scheduling and COVID safety precautions as well.
AVets has consistently been very mindful of costs associated with premium pet health. They always try to seek the most efficient (cost and pet-benefit) ways to treat our babies. I am so appreciative of their premium care and advice. Their transparency of recommended treatment and costs and a willingness to work with us instead of simply dictating is what keeps us going back.
