Amazing vet services! Great staff! Reasonable prices. Staff remembers your furkid and all their quirks. Highly recommended

Dr. Smothers and staff did an amazing job with Lucy our almost 2 yoa lab. During the stay home mandate, Lucy was scratching, itching and licking excessively. I called Family Pet Medical & Surgery and scheduled an appointment. Lobby was closed so I met the staff outside. After being inside for about 15 minutes Dr. Smothers called and after asking a few questions to confirm his diagnosis, he prescribed a treatment.nThe behavior stopped in a matter of days. Recommended future treatment.nThank-you Dr. Smothers and staff. Lucy was so happy to see the staff.

One day, we noticed that our cat, Pete, was acting extremely abnormal. We believed he had most likely ate something that he shouldn’t have or had some type of nasty fur ball because he appeared to be straining to go to the bathroom. We called this vet and they told us the earliest they could see us was two days in the future which was very unfortunate seeing as Pete needed to be seen almost right away. We were understanding though, you cannot simply make a time slot appear or make another client reschedule.nLater that night (the same day we noticed and called the vet), Pete began throwing up. We decided to make the call to take him to the emergency vet in Snohomish. They discovered he had a stone of some kind stuck in his urethra. They operated on him and cleared the blockage but told us that he had another stone in his bladder and crystals in his urine. They put him on a special diet and sent him home but told us “If this happens again, you guys may need to make a very difficult decision (put him down)”. Now to where this Vet gets involved. Five days after Pete had seemed to have made a full recovery, he stopped urinating and acted the same as the last time he was blocked. We had already paid so much for him (you can’t put a price on how much we loved him though). We remembered what the Emergency Vet told us when they discharged us about it happening again. We called this Vet and got an early morning appointment and said our goodbyes to Pete. Once we got there, we were GUILT TRIPPED for not wanting to do the surgery again. We were considering it would be a constant loop of blocked, surgery, blocked, surgery. One thousand dollars each time and more and more pain for poor Pete. They told us that we could pay the euthanasia bill and they would preform the surgery FOR FREE and REHOME him. That was utterly insulting. If you were to do the surgery for free, why not return him to those who love him and have loved him forever!? That was just devastating. We felt as if the vet only cared about their pockets and not Pete’s best interest considering the odds of another blockage would be extremely high. We are NOT irresponsible pet owners. Pete had the best life and was loved so deeply and dearly. It was an absolute shame what they did, guilt tripping an already grieving family for money. We couldn’t financially do the surgery and even if we could, what is the quality of life for our poor Pete who would have to live to be blocked and have surgery repeatedly. We ended up getting him euthanized. Insulted by how this place conducts itself. Utter shame.nRIP Pete, the goofiest and most loved cat.nNever go here.

I can't say enough good things about this place and the people who work here.nMy 14 year old golden retriever developed a serious infection and wasn't able to fight it (had I gone here first, she may have been saved). She was dying. I knew she was beyond help. I called Family Pet Medical and Surgery and they got me in last minute for me and my family to put her down in a dignified place and in a dignified way. The staff and doctor were excellent, caring and understanding. For such an emergency on short notice, they went far above and beyond what I expected. The doctor was older and knowledged. His staff was professional and to the point (but with a heart).nThe cost was half of what the ghetto vet down the street wanted. They wanted to do so much and charge me a massive amount for what the doctor at Family Pet Medical and Surgery already knew was the cause of dog's demise.nIt was a tough day. This place and these people made it better. Thank you, ALL of you for what you did today.

I have been coming to this vet since 2008 for all my animals names, cats and dogs. They are very caring about you and your animals. I have had to put down two of dogs ( old age) and they were by far the most caring people when it came time to do this and they try this to ease your worries and your sadness.nnNot sure why the other people are giving bad reviews because I've never had anything other than awesome service there! I will always bring my animals here and refer friends and family to bring theirs they're too
