Heartfelt grew out of a series of successful Insight Service Trainings in the 1980s. Virtually everything is run by volunteers. Ever since for 35 years they have been doing several annual large service projects mostly around major holidays, targeted at underserved populations in downtown LA and on the Eastside. Heartfelt is also a large network of service-oriented volunteers worth knowing about. But that's not all, it also has a dedicated program for elderly persons in need and support for local end of life situations. I've participated in the other large L.A. service project groups too, Agape, L.A. Works, Tree People and Sacred Activists. Because Heartfelt has behind it an intention towards loving and unusually healthy group process, it has proven to be the most sustainable of these service orgs. Heartfelt does take donations of food, toys, school supplies to distribute.
