Emergency Veterinary & Specialty Services Of Roanoke were fantastic. The staff was very friendly & helpful, and the vet gave us multiple options regarding our beagle puppy's treatment. The emergency vet services were even less expensive than our regular vet (for the exact same treatments), which was a relief. I'd definitely recommend this veterinary office! We appreciated the kindness of every staff member & vet that we spoke with. I felt like I was leaving my puppy in good hands with people who cared.

Maybe my expectations are too high but when the name of the company says “Emergency Vet and Specialty Services” I am expecting them to be able to take care of whatever the need may be of my pet. What we got however was a glorified clinic, which is exactly how it was explained to me after I asked for clarification on what they actually do (because I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome). The person I spoke with said “We are like an urgent care for pets. So just like you would go into urgent care for a problem and they would tell you what’s wrong/prescribe medication and then tell you to go to the ER if need be, we do the same for animals.” What that means to me is unless the issue is minor, don’t waste your time or money going there. I was pretty confident my dog had a fracture. They took xrays, saw a fracture. I was sent home with pain pills and to follow up with a regular vet. In my previous experiences with emergency vets, they would’ve at minimum splint the leg and at most, done surgery that day. The vet I spoke with wasn’t sure whether it was an old break or new. (My dog had previously broken the same leg years ago and had screws and a plate) I was never shown the xrays (or sent them even after asking and being told they would do so) until I followed up with my regular vet which clearly show the plate is broken. In my head, I would mention to the owner the dog’s plate is broken and is probably contributing to the issue.nAgain, maybe my expectations were too high but I was very disappointed in the service we received.

I just erased a bad review that I had posted about this place. I found out later through my vet that everything that the emergency vet had told me was correct. My dog had never been sick so I thought she didn't have the problems they told me about. I got great service from the vet and everybody there. I apologize for any negative things I said. I trust and appreciate the service they gave my dog. I truly appreciate the time the vet took explaining everything to me.

We have used EVS Roanoke many times. Staff is phenomenal and have a true passion for what they do. Always eager to help in what is often a stressful situation for us (having a pet at the emergency vet). Very attentive to our dogs when we come. I know my dogs are in great care even when we have had to leave them overnight. I have called to check in on them in the middle of the night and they take the time to update me. Lucky to live close by to them as we have used them many times between our four dogs. Thanks for all you do for our community!

Overall I felt the care was very personable even though we couldn't directly see the vet staff much. The vet was very helpful with our cat's issue and helped us understand what we should do to help her. Albeit it was a little expensive and almost too expensive for a last minute emergency visit, but it was well worth it in the end because we still have our fur baby and we would definitely bring any of our animals back here for emergency care. I appreciated contact with the vet, she really reached out periodically through the visit and helped put our minds at ease
