Vista Vet - Animal Hospital & Pet Lodge

I’ve been taking my 2 pups here and absolutely love this place! Having taken previous pets to many of the most popular Austin area vets over the years I can honestly say that Dr. Roach and his staff are the best!nnPersonalized care and expertise are just the beginning, Vista Vet explains all treatment options answering any questions in detail and provides a breakdown of the respective costs which are extremely fair. No surprise vet bill here!nnAs a local, it’s awesome to recognize the staff members as locals themselves. I rarely do reviews but feel compelled to rave about how clear it is that the everyone here genuinely cares about their customers and the animals. I definitely recommend checking them out!

They have been the best vet we have been too. The take care of of our dogs and cat. We even had to put our beloved 18 year dog to sleep and they were amazing. I’m happy to have them in our area.

I brought my best buddy, Oscar, to Vista Vet on a Sunday when my previous vet was closed. Oscar was being treating at the previous vet for an ear infection that had not been improving. Unable to take the clear suffering Oscar was in, I brought him to Dr. Roach at Vista Vet, and I’m so happy that I did.nDr. Roach asked all about Oscar, went over the medications the previous vet had given me, and took Oscar inside (due to Covid) to give him an exam. Dr. Roach brought Oscar back out and explained to me what was causing him discomfort, and due to the exam, had me discontinue with the medication the previous vet had prescribed.nBefore paying the bill, Dr. Roach’s team member went over the charges with me and even offered what quantity of flea/tick and heart worm prevention I wanted that would best suit my budget.nWithin days of our visit with Dr. Roach, I saw a dramatic improvement in Oscar and his health. Dr. Roach followed up with me and offered to give Oscar a once-over free of charge to ensure everything was on the right track.nI cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Roach and his team for their professionalism, compassion, and very fast service.nI have since switched Oscar’s care to Dr. Roach as his primary vet and I highly encourage everyone to do the same.

Dr. Roach at Vista Vet is an amazing veterinarian and person. You will not find a more dedicated and passionate professional. Dr. Roach came in on Christmas Eve to perform surgery on our puppy who had swallowed a rag. He then came in for a little while on Christmas to allow us to see our puppy after surgery. Dr. Roach did an amazing job on our dog’s surgery and if you want to support small businesses, this is a great opportunity.

Vista Vet is conveniently located in a growing area of Round Rock. On Monday, November 16th, we took our 15 year old 'chi-weenie' to them knowing she was nearing the end of her life. We wanted to give her medication for pain and to stimulate her appetite with the plan of keeping her for a few more days, until it was time.nnThe doctor was very kind but I feel was not up-front with us. She said it was our decision to do everything possible to keep her going or to put her to sleep. My wife felt we should do everything possible and hope for the best. They went through a battery of tests and drawing blood. We took her home that evening with a catheter in one of her legs. That night, my wife, Bambi and I did not get much sleep and Bambi was in constant pain. We took her back to see the results of the tests the next day. It wasn't until then that the doctor finally said there is no hope. I left work and took her home hoping that she would be more comfortable during her last days. However, it was awful. She was no longer herself and was constantly crying in pain even with the medication. Later that afternoon, we took her back.nnPrevious to the visit, our worry was that she would occasionally shake (we assumed there was pain) and was eating very little. We understand that tests have to be done to see what is wrong. However, in the condition that our dogie was in when we took her, our opinion is that they should have realized her condition and should have been more candid with us. Instead, they put her through a lot of pain and basically left her in a much worse condition in less than 24 hours. She suffered a lot during her last 24 hours of life.nnBambi was in my son's arms when she was put to sleep yesterday afternoon. Her suffering ended. We love her and she is missed!nnTheir staff was kind but I can only give them a 2 star rating. We adopted a dog about a month ago and will be going to another vet, given our experience.
