Ponderosa Animal Clinic

I had to take my one-and-a-half a half year old Razors Edge blue pit bull into Ponderosa Animal Clinic due to the fact that a man ordered his Pitbull to attack my pitbull just to see a dog fight while my kids were at a dog park that they frequent due to the fact that it's close to our house. Before moving to the area & visiting the dog park regularly, our dog has never been in a fight Noir did he barely even bark 'cuz he's never even been around other dogs until we moved to this neighborhood. Due to the fact that my two children were in a company of my dog at this time thankfully our dog did what he is supposed to do and protected my children unfortunately my children told me that the other dog lost the fight in their opinion because she was injured severely. Which is something that upset my children to see something so graphic done onto another animal my dog had a small lesion on his left cheek which didn't seem very bad at the time. 2 days later we noticed that it begin to swell so I Googled affordable clinics in Albuquerque New Mexico that's when I found Ponderosa. I am so grateful to the staff they were very friendly and helpful to my family and I felt like not only did they truly care about the well-being of my dog but also that of my family my dog was well taken care of for a very reasonable price if I had not found this Clinic I would had to pay over $1,000 That's not including the prescription for antibiotics and ointment that they gave me I only ended up paying about $300 that's for the examination treatment and prescription all together. Once again thank you Ponderosa Animal Clinic and I will be back if I ever have a veterinarian issue with any of my animals and I will highly recommend this veterinarian to anyone who is looking for a reasonable price and great Veterinarian Service

I would thoroughly advise against taking your animals here. I worked here for a short time and the conditions were horrible. The AC was out so it was about 80 degrees in the building. The owners are hoarders and have stuff EVERYWHERE. They barely have enough staff to keep the animals taken care of, much less keep the place clean. Half of the time I would walk in for a shift and the animals would be covered in their own urine and feces. We didn't even have time to give them baths because the owners thought it was unnecessary and would constantly scream at us to do something else. The food they fed the animals was constantly crawling with ants and roaches, and I saw multiple mice. They also have at least 5 or 6 dogs that they consider "permanent residents," who spend their entire lives in small cages. There was a large dog in a small cage because they just didn't have the space for him, and they only got to go outside 3 times a day when the workers came for shifts. The best I could do was try to make sure they got 10 minutes outside to stretch. It was horrible, and I quit because of the awful conditions for these animals and the abhorrent treatment of their staff. I am glad to hear that they both retired, the care I saw them give was negligent. I watched the vet give a dog 2 doses of the same vaccine because he just wasn't paying attention. Not to mention, they were constantly understaffed but refused to hire any men. They would just claim that they filled the slot and wait for another woman to apply. They have an incredibly high turnover rate because the old woman vet would constantly verbally abuse the staff.
