Viscaya Prado Veterinary Hospital

We brought our10yr old Minpin Oscar in for vomiting and lethargy issues. We were shocked and heartbroken to find he had pneumonia and late stage kidney disease. Oscar is back home with us and doing very well thanks to the caring and professional services rendered by Dr. Monte. She even called us at least once a day while Oscar was in the hospital. Thank you to the entire Tech staff including Bella, Charlie and Carlos. Thank you also to an amazing intern, Kelly. You guys are rock stars. We hope and pray that with your help and lots of prayers Oscar will be happy, comfortable and with us for a long time. And the prices are very reasonable too. Thank you so much for helping us have more time with our loved pets!

I have taken my pets to Viscaya-Prado Vet Clinic for over 10 years. In the past, vets have been considerate about not over charging. Shots did not require an office visit charge and before vets performed a service that wasn’t requested, they asked. Vets were caring, knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make the visit affordable. Not any more! I don’t know if it’s because of the new building (they are trying to pay for it) or if it’s all the new vets (I don’t recognize faces or names of vets.) After the recent visits, I am changing vets. I scheduled a visit for shots one day and a bladder control problem with a different dog the next. I was going out of town so my fiancé had to take the dogs in alone. One of the two (both rescues), has lots of anxiety and becomes hard to handle at the vet office. When I got home, I looked over the paperwork and noticed that both dogs had a charge for physical exams. They did not need physical exams for another three months (and I usually don’t get one every year). The physical exams were $79.50 each. I asked my fiancé if the vets (2 different vets) had asked him about doing a physical exam. He said no. I asked him if the vet had asked him about the ear infection of the older dog (it cannot be missed). He said no. I called to question the charges. I was told that a note would be left for Dottie and she would get back to me. After a week, I still hadn’t heard back from Dottie, but the older dog had to be rechecked for bladder issues so I asked when I was leaving. The clerk went and talked to Dottie about the bills. She told me that they could change the charges to office visits ($73 instead of $79.50). I said that I would keep the charges as they were, but I wanted both dogs to have real physical exams since neither had really received an exam. She said they would have to charge for the office visit then. I asked if I could at least get a multi dog discount since last year we were given a discount for multi dogs. She said that since the dogs had two different vets, it wasn’t possible. Apparently, all vets have different charges and procedures, but I will tell you that I felt like the clerk was lying to me because she would not look me in the eyes. On the way home, I called another vet in the area to switch my dogs to that practice. I do NOT recommend this vet clinic. Take your pets elsewhere.

New to the area and was in search of a new vet for our two senior kitties. Tried another vet in the city and was not happy with their service so tried out Viscaya Prado and very happy we did. The staff is friendly and professional and they were able to get us in easily at a convenient time. Not a long wait and the visit went quickly as well. Doctor listened to our concerns and was very informative. The new facility is spacious and clean.

Excellent care. Very attentive. Dr Melloh takes very good care of my kitty. Staff is always very pleasant and helpful.
