We first came to Chestnut Street Animal Hospital 17 year ago with a newly rescued dog, Stella. Everyone at Chestnut, from the front desk staff, all the vet techs and Dr. Medley, was so amazingly supportive and reassuring as we took on this new challenge, and took great care of our new dog. Years later, through Stella's decline and ultimate passing, they were by our side helping us make decisions and facilitating a home visit to allow us to let her go in the security of her own surroundings. We then repeated the process a second time, and for our second pup Sadie, Dr. Aldrich was there every step of the way to provide wonderful care, celebrate all the joy she brought, and truly love her like family. Many of the same vet technicians that we had known for years would warmly welcome Sadie every time she came in for an exam, treating her with kindness and ensuring her comfort every time. And once again, the staff at Chestnut Street was there to offer support and help us move through the difficult process of saying goodbye when it was her time to go. Weeks ago, we brought our newest rescue, Tucker, in to meet the staff and have his first exam, where he was welcomed with open arms and treated with as much love as he gets at home.nWe would never consider using any other Veterinary practice. I have always felt that they love the animals they care for just as much as the owners who bring them in - as if each and every pet was their own. We will be forever grateful for the support and care they have given to both us and our animals for nearly 20 years now!

Very disappointed with the care of 2 of my dogs. My dog just passed away because this practice failed to accurately diagnose a large tumor next to his heart and sent us on our way. They said everything “looked good” and scheduled an X-ray a week later “just to be sure”. My dog died a day after when the tumor ruptured. If the practice lacks adequate equipment for treating animals, which they do, they should send the animals immediately to another practice. Instead, they said my dog looked fine based on simple testing and scheduled another appointment a week later. My dog collapsed the day after and we took him to the emergency room, where they told us with an on-the-spot ultrasound, that he had a large tumor next to his heart (an hemangiosarcoma). Chestnut St does not have an ultrasound machine, critical for noticing many vital issues. Instead they referred us for an X-ray at another practice - an X-ray is not the correct tool for our dogs illness. I am very disappointed that the vet failed to diagnose this and failed to immediately transfer us to someone who was capable, given our dog was obviously in pain (labored breathing, not eating, refusing to stand up). If I explained to the vet my dog was experiencing pain the vet should have put in some effort and looked further to find the issue. He had a fatal cancer that was probably causing him pain for quite some time, enlarging his stomach, and he collapsed to his death a day following seeing the doctor. Yet somehow the vet saw no issues resulting from their “testing”. A few years ago my other dog also died suddenly, with the vet only giving us 12hrs notice. We will be finding another vet who is more capable so our next dog will not suffer, collapse, and die unexpectedly in front of my family. If this practice does not have adequate knowledge or equipment they should not put animals’ lives in their hands.

Chestnut Street Animal Hospital was amazing! As a first time pet owner, they made sure to explain everything to me and treated my little havapoo, Winnie, so well!

This office is wonderful. In a world of automation and a lack of customer service, this vet clinic stands out. They are kind, helpful, and trustworthy. I would take my elderly cat of 17 years regularly for checkups and they were great. When she suddenly died, they were compassionate and understanding. I even received an incredibly kind handwritten note from Dr. Kelsey herself. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants the best for their pet!
