I brought my pet here Friday because something was not right. They misdiagnosed him with back pain and said his symptoms were a pain response. I brought him back the next day because he was acting strange and something wasn’t right- definitely not back pain. The doctor the next day was much better. Cared didn’t treat my dog like a dollar sign to give a diagnosis, get paid and get out. However now since it was the weekend- he couldn’t get the ultrasound he needed and they hospitalized him until Monday for 48 hours because he was not stable enough to go home. The second day doctor agreed no way this was back pain. First visit was $700 the two day stay was $2,300. He received his ultra sound and found to be septic- so time was of the essence. Having emergency surgery now and have to try to beat sepsis. Definitely not back pain. They referred him to Buffalo grove for surgery as they said they aren’t capable to handle. That stay is $7,000-$10,000 still praying he makes it. I wish i would have saved the $3,000 I wasted at this place to put towards the actual treatment the next place was giving me. The doctor there from Friday and Monday was the same and even told me my questions were “trivial” and was rude to me. Gave the place two stars because the female doctor they have that helped me Saturday. Although she was not able to help or treat my pet. She at least appeared to care and realized when a dog won’t eat, walk or drink and is trembling- it’s not just some back pain. I’ll never go here again.
When our vet told us we needed to take our pup to the ER (and the local ER wasn't taking patients) he sent us to Companion. They were very busy, but so kind about it. They took great care of our goofy boy, who acted like he was fine. I'm so glad they were able to see him and take such good care of him. True professionals even when they were crazy busy.
Caring staff, beautiful buildingnWonderful vet when we brought my boxer in with emergency seizures. They calmed me down a tech grabbed my shoulders and told me they were doing everything to fix him and that just made me stop crying at least 1 minute.nThe daytime vet the next day was less for a people person (totally get it you're a vet that loves animals and probably only animals).
After having an agreement with my personal vet about the decline of my dog, she took a turn for the worst. My vet was booked solid and recommended we take her here to have her euthanized. We called and explained our situation and how my dog took a quick turn for the worst, won't eat anything, bloody diarrhea, or just straight blood, throws up with any food or water, has a hard time walking, very disoriented, and dropping weight like crazy. They said ok and to bring her in. We told them it would be an hour and a half so we could say good bye with my two young daughters and a wife that were a wreck. I finally got there with my dog, took her in, they said they would call me after the vet administered the IV and I could see her in a private room before they put her down. I was told to wait in my car until then, got the call, and was told they wanted to try a treatment plan and would not put her down. I had all of these thoughts and conversations with my vet prior to this, but after deliberation, came to the decision that this was the time. We have now brought her home and all she is doing is whining and crying, having bloody diarrhea all over our kitchen or just straight blood (in alarming amounts), throwing up more than she is taking in, and appears in pain. Because our vet has been closed for awhile, we don't know if we still can get an appointment. I don't think this is fair to the dog or us. Any vet should listen to your situation and respect it, especially if your personal vet is recommending them to you because they are busy. This is especially heart wrenching because I had my 10 and 3 year old in tears saying their good byes. How do you explain the dog is coming back, just to leave again tomorrow?
I highly recommend! The staff is amazing! I have no doubt that our Penelope would not be with us today without their care and expertise. I cannot express how grateful we are for everything they have done to save her.
