This past summer my father unexpectedly passed away and this being the first death I've personally experienced I wasn't sure what all to do.nnFortunately the folks at Montlawn were able to help me and my family along with the processes of getting the legal work for my father dealt with as well as helping us decide which plan suited our wishes best. I greatly appreciated their patience with my family and answering all the (many) questions we had. I'd like to specifically thank John Paul, Kurtis, and Scott for being so kind to us and making an extremely difficult time in our lives just a bit easier.nnIf you need a team that is professional and will be able to help after the loss of a loved one, I can't recommend Montlawn Funeral Home enough.
We had to utilize the services of Montlawn and Kurtis was amazing. Kept me apprised of everything every step of the way. Very sympathetic and empathetic. Followed through on everything he said he would and made all the decisions less painful. Also, everyone I came into contact with was cordial and very helpful. All was taken care of over the phone due to COVID. Highly recommend.
I never imagined that I would have to write a review for a funeral home but here I am. JP is amazing. My stepmom passed last week and my father, sister and I worked with JP to handle the arrangements. He is so kind and empathetic. He explained everything in a way we could understand and was very sensitive to our feelings during this difficult time. He came highly recommended to my father and now we are highly recommending him to others. Thank you JP for all you did to support our family in our time of need.
I recently had to have cremations, a memorial service, and burial for both my parents. I cannot share enough how wonderful Scott Wheeler, funeral director, and Lisa Stacey, my Family Service Advisor - (cemetery and burial side) were to work with. They were so compassionate and thorough about every detail and wanted to make sure they were helping me keep within my financial range. They both go above and beyond to make sure every detail honored my parents not only to my liking but was the best possible remembrance experience of them. Make sure you ask for them by name to assist you. They helped me turn a terrible experience into one that has a peaceful ending for me and new beginning for my parents.
I only give this a 5 star if you work with the right people there. Otherwise, I give it a zero. You must work with Lisa Stacey and Scott Wheeler, other wise you will get ripped off and your experience will be one you will never forget. Lisa and Scott were very sincere and genuine in wanting to help and make you feel comfortable. They both explained everything in detail what you get and how much it will cost. If you plan it so you get a considerable discount, then the prices are very good. You never feel rushed, and both are very sincere people. Lisa used to be a social worker, so her innate character is one of compassion. Lisa spent a lot of time with me designing my memorial foot marker in a way that she felt suited me. Also, both worked with me to get the best possible price. Please understand, your best leverage is to go with the pre-planning, which locks in the price---not waiting for when someone dies and you NEED them. In the end, my pre-planning experience with Lisa and Scott, was very pleasant and ended with a great sense of accomplishment that my final arrangements have been made at a reasonable cost. DO IT, but work with them!!
