This is a central train station. Lots of trains and people. Very few frills. However there is Copley mall across the street which is very big and full of many shops. The utilitarian building describes what is there with out compromise.

Pretty huge station that doubles up as a Commuter rail stop apart from the orange line subway. Signage here needs a massive upgrade. Definitely a massive revamp project for someone into UI/UX. The commuter rail info is still fairly centralised but changing platforms last minute can be hectic if you don’t know that you’ve got to go to another end of the concourse.

Back Bay Station is my preferred rail stop in Boston - it's a great way to take the Amtrak up from southern New England to visit. This station definitely has its historic value, and while I appreciate it - I really believe Amtrak/MBTA really need to give this old place a good renovation. It gets VERY cold in the Winter here, and I do NOT recommend you wait at the platform until 5 minutes before your train, otherwise expect to freeze waiting down there. Even the lobby above gets chilly in the colder months. Having a Dunkin Donuts, and a Tastyburger at the station is a blessing, and I often stop at one or both of these before making my journey home.nnAll in all - this is a great way to get in and out of Boston, no hassle, no driving or parking.
