The Michigan Station People Mover is very close to the Times Square Station. There is hardly time for the train to get going before it must slow down.nnNevertheless it is a convenient location to get started with the People Mover. The station has plenty of windows so you can see what is going on in there, if anything, before you enter. It feels a little cramped because after you arriver it is just a few feet to the turnstile. There is space beyond the turnstile but what to do with it? There’s nothing to buy at this location. The tile display on the wall is colorful and large. It is all static imagery. No televisions or communications screens. There is a location to buy tokens.nnThe place is kept generally clean but considering its importance to the local area I would believe it would be kept sparkling. They are trying but the question is left begging ‘how hard?’. Again, nonetheless, this is a great way to see and get around the city. The cost is reasonable and the views are great!
Not a very safe place but downtown is getting better and nicer every time I go.
I remember the people mover ever since I was a little kid going to Red Wing games at Joe Louis Arena. Not only is it very cheap to ride, but also quite efficient if you are commuting in the vicinity of the People Mover. The cars could be a little cleaner, but I can honestly say that is my only complaint. If you have never been, I highly recommend that you check it out.
Can't beat a $0.75 ride around town. Take the kids and a camera.
You have to take the people mover to get a glimpse of the city center: it's pretty fun!
