We never felt pressure to buy anything or lock into a service we didn't want. We were never asked for a deposit and have been very gracious about payment with us. The people we worked closely with, Ann and Jami, were amazing. They had so much compassion and attention to detail. We never felt forced or coerced into anything. They were nothing but helpful and delicate with our situation. The place was beautiful and comfortable. We will use them again.

Be very wary of this place. My brother died suddenly on October 14 2020. I had to fly out to Denver to deal with his affairs and arrange to bring his remains back to Michigan. My 83 and 80 year old parents were devastated. Without my knowing they went to McCabe, where they were coerced into signing a contract for a full funeral with visitation and everything for an estimate of $5700, and were asked to pay a $3000 deposit. All this during COVID and for extremely high risk individuals. This type of exploitation and endangerment of high risk individuals during these times is incorrigible. In the meantime I was in Denver getting my brother released from the medical examiner and having him sent to a local funeral home for preparation to ship home. My family decided on cremation. Which cost $1500 in Denver plus $150 shipping. We also paid another $130 for 20 death certificates for a total cost of $1780. McCabe had the Denver funeral company send the remains to them. I personally picked up my brother’s remains and canceled all services and visitation plans with McCabe. I arranged all the burial services and plots. McCabe wasn’t involved at all. Then my parents tell me McCabe was keeping all of the $3000 deposit. I called McCabe asking what the additional $1220 was for. They told me “professional services”. I asked them for what? I had done most of the work both in Denver and in Michigan. Not to mention they had put my parents at risk. They didn’t try to deter them at all against in person services, which they should have done in the current environment and given their extremely high risk conditions. They were only looking for how much money they could get from grieving elderly people. I requested McCabe to offer a more reasonable charge for their so called professional services and they refused. They took $130 off, which was what they were asking for above the $3000 deposit! We will move on now with our grieving. Hope that McCabe learns how to better handle these situations. I know I won’t be dealing with them again.

Overall - very pleased with our experience at McCabe's and everything went well. Below are some of the areas of strength:nnStaff- we enjoyed working with McCabe's staff and found all to be professional and easy to work with. Support staff Meaghan and Jami were very nice, pleasant, and accommodating. Funeral Director Jim was relaxed, thorough, and a normal guy (that is meant as a compliment). Funeral Director Andrea is a professional and a solution provider - we appreciate her working with us to make decisions while being patient at the same time.nnFacilities- spacious rooms and we probably would have been crowded in another funeral home. The funeral home is easily accessible for visitors.nnViewing - My mom's last view of my father in hospice was an unpleasant one. She took great comfort at how my dad looked at the funeral home and her final image of him in the funeral home - though hard - was much easier to hold on to. Other than one minor adjustments - nothing else needed to be changed. She was glad that we had a viewing.nnCost - the cost was a little higher compared to other funeral homes but we felt the support, facilities, and many other factors made it worth it.

My experience at McCabe was truly comforting and stress free. Everyone was incredibly helpful at the most difficult time in my life. They guided me through the decisions that faced me and my children and made us feel totally safe and secure with the times we were facing. The day of the service was all that we could have wanted.

The people working at McCabe Funeral home are very professional and accommodating. My father passed during the Covid pandemic and he was a front liner. We wanted to have a viewing for those who didn't get to see him and they made it happen. Social distancing and safety precautions were used but they allowed us to grieve properly and gave our family and friends the opportunity to do so as well. They even helped us arrange a service at the local church.nnMany funeral homes we called around to did not want to see us let alone hold a service. They offered to just pick up the body and cremate him for us. Very harsh and insincere.nnOne of the funeral directors at McCabe named Andrea met with us and helped us plan everything. She is absolutely wonderful and made everything go off smoothly. The staff at McCabe are also exceptional. Whenever, someone brought in flowers they would get a vase and place it next to where the viewing was. Allowing us to grieve and now worry about anything but processing what has happened. This attention to small detail really impressed me and allowed us not worry when something so tragic happened. They were a very big relief to us and I highly recommend them.nn** Note: There are two locations one in Farmington and Livonia, I would specify the location for those who are sending flowers **
