I thought it is very strange that they only want you to call and leave a message to tell them the dog that you are interested in. I had no choice but calling. I have never heard a word from this place, but I have received 3 marketing calls already. I read a recent review and found out that I am not alone. This place has a questionable practice.

I was referred to the Animal Welfare League by my daughter. I spoke with Carmella who forwarded me to Joie. My cat was diagnosed with pyometra which is an infection in the uterus. Pyometra is considered a serious and life threatening condition that must be treated quickly and aggressively. Upon speaking to Joie she referred me to Central Avenue Animal Hospital where my cat Journee underwent emergency surgery. Everything occurred within hours of my first initial phone call. Everything went well. The staff was professional, courteous, patient and understanding. They are definitely an organization that loves animals and will help you. This is my true and honest testimony. I am very pleased with the treatment I received from The animal Welfare League and Central Avenue Animal Hospital. Thank you all

Both my wife and i were getting spam phone calls (like 3 in hour through the day) after contacting this place. None if the calls were actually pet adaption related, and we never heard back from Animal Welfare League eyther.

I have serious concerns about their desire to find homes for the animals they have under their care. I contacted them about adopting a pup I fell in love with listed as available on petfinder. That was sometime in early Spring 2019. Because of their policy that volunteers do not want to drive more than I hour they rudely did not even want to discuss adopting her bc I live 1hr15 minutes from there. The individual I spoke to was rude and a bit condescending to me and would not even consider me in the least bit solely bc of the 15 minutes extra they had to drive to find her a home. I just can’t understand what they’re thinking? This poor pup could have been loved in a home with her own family to love her all these month but there she sits waiting month after month for some who the rescue finds more convenient for them. Shame on them! Every time I go into petfinder, there she still sit in winter 2020. It breaks my heart we would of loved having her as part of our family.
