My experience with Austin A Layne Mortuary was NOT most pleasant. I recently used their services for my brother's funeral. Mr.Layne in particular was very indiscretion. With the exception of Answering Service, most of staff was just plain cold and indifferent. Although, I did get $2,500 reduced from cost of funeral. I felt customer service skills were sorely lacking. Even day of funeral the indifference continued. Staff vertically disappeared offered no assistance exception end of service. I am not only person who noticed. Family members and friends later told me they felt same way. I will NOT recommend this company to anyone in future.

I am applaud about the services which was rendered to my son. The funeral director, Mr. French was very compassionate and understanding at the beginning. My son's obituary was not posted until the day of the service online and it was not proper. I do not know where he obtained the photos used in my son's obituary but they were posted on my Facebook page. The obituary had to be sent back several times due to typo errors. The day of the viewing prior to the service, the casket was two hours late, so it was three hours after the schedule time before the viewing. When I questioned on the reasoning why the casket was late, I felt that he was intimidated by my voice alone and could not give me a straight forward answer. I had to literally force it out of him. Then the owner of the funeral home Mr. Layne, came to check on me doing the viewing and question me on why the lower half of the casket was open. I am a former mortician myself so if I am paying for a service should I be able to see exactly what I am paying for? His personalized throw to go across his casket was not ready either; did not see until the day of the funeral. The day of the service let me began with the limo which suppose to come and pick up the family. Of course, it was late, but the limo driver Sharon was very helpful, sweet, and compassionate throughout the service. I was understanding about the tardiness because of the time of day.....traffic causing delays. Instead of playing the songs as requested, they played the entire CD doing the viewing. At the end of the service, they gave me information to where he should have been buried. I had to confirm the information with the cemetery; it was totally off. The death certificate omg...the wrong date of his death was placed on it. Good thing I check it prior to leaving the mortuary because it would have messed me up. I spoke with Mr. Layne after this big boo boo, about the services that was rendered and he did not sound a bit concern at all. I came in the next day after losing my child, and the services was schedule within the ten days after so things would not be rush. However, people was scrambling around like chickens with their heads cut off. I thought that I gave them plenty of time to prepare. How I am feeling right about now I would not recommend a dog going to have preparations made for their final resting place here. I was more upset about his services than I was about losing him. This should not have been at all.

The staff at Layne mortuary were wonderful and very helpful to my family during the difficult time as a result of my mother’s recent tragic and sudden passing. The care and attention we received from them, most especially Mr. Austin A. Layne, helped my family get through the incredible pain of losing my Mom. I can’t thank you enough all those on staff for making this difficult time a little bit easier with all the arrangements and helpful hands that they gave. I truly feel Layne mortuary has clients for years to come when needed for these devastating life changing occasions.

After a beautiful experience at my grandmother's funeral ceremony this year, I started working with the Austin Layne team. They are second to none in regards to professionalism and making you feel like part of their family. I appreciate what they do for there clients during their time of need and I'm happy to be part of the legacy.
