Thank you for the comfort and compassion you give during these difficult times. My grandfather passed away unexpectedly and the support I received from Tom and Louise was beyond appreciated. They supported us in appropriate price points, guided us in options and most importantly felt our pain. We never felt pushed or that we were over charged.nThey run a well oiled machine with the proper support and care.

My cousin's husband died unexpectedly in the middle of a Thursday night. Friday morning my sister called and asked if I would find a funeral home to pick up the body and arrange a service. In a state of shock I immediately started looking on line and placing phone calls.nI compared four funeral homes for services and pricing. I immediately liked Olson and Parent because they were so straight forward and there was no feeling of pressure.nOne of the things I asked about was using the historic chapel at Swan Point Cemetery. They told me there would be a 250.00 (I think, could have been 270.00) charge from Swan Point for the use of the chapel. The other funeral homes charged $400.00 or more, meaning they added their own fee on top of Swan Point. This is not unusual but the fact that Olson and Parent didn't made me feel they weren't in it for the big sell. They also offer a free urn for ashes that is a lovely box made from rag paper. They feel that every one should leave with an urn. For some families a funeral is beyond their means and these small kindnesses really matter.nThe biggest thing for me was their humanness. I was distraught that morning and my cousin was incapacitated. I know I was brittle in those first few calls but Tom and Louise were patient and nonreactive. They helped me through all the confusing details and paper work.nThey were also very generous with their time and knowledge around planning a funeral. Our event was much stronger because they told me about some of the problems that can occur...like leaving a bunch of time for memories and then no one shares, or if it is not a religious service to have a plan for people to speak, read poetry or other things that will hold meaning for the family.nI highly recommend Olson and Parent as a fair and professional organization. I have had the misfortune of having 3 of my siblings pass away in the last 18 months. Two of them were in Providence, RI and Tom Olson (Olson & Parent Funeral Home) helped me with their cremations. Tom was sensitive to my grief and did all he could to make things as manageable as possible for me. I highly recommend Olson And Parent Funeral Home. We didn’t want to have a wake, we had my mom cremated and spread her ashes at Swan point cemetery. We had our own memorial service. The price was very reasonable and I liked Mr. Olson very much. Everything was great!
