Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services

When my dog ingested too much sand while playing on the beach, we had to take her to the Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services late on a Sunday night. They admitted her for sand impaction and she had to stay two nights. I thought they did an incredible job. It was expensive, and the vet knew that, so she explained the approximate costs involved, as well as less expensive alternatives. She did not pressure us. We agreed to the costs and had her admitted, and we didn’t regret the decision. Although they were extremely busy and were dealing with multiple pets with their emergencies, the staff kindly kept us posted on our dog’s status. They were so nice and took the time to explain everything to us and answer our questions. When it came to discharge, they even refunded me some of the deposit we made because the treatment was less costly than they originally thought. That was very honest, and leads me to believe it’s not about the money with this hospital. It’s a relief to know that this place exists and is 10 minutes from my house. Thank you all again, especially Ruth and all the Vets and staff!

Very satisfied with the level of care my dog received throughout the week. Dr. R was extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and addressed all my concerns. The staff was great, followed up with me to check on how my dog was feeling. They went above and beyond during a very stressful time. Highly recommend!!

I have nothing but great things to say about this animal hospital!! Everyone that assisted me from the receptionists, the nurses, the doctors, specialists, techs etc were wonderful !! Justin Chandlr was last helping me and I wanted to take the time to say that he was extremely thorough, helpful, and kind. He took the time out of his very busy schedule and day to send me detailed information explaining everything that I had to do with such ease ! I explained to him my situation and he made it simple and easy on my part and I appreciate it very much !!!! Justin and the staff here! thank you so very much ! :)

Super helpful. Was able to get my cat in at the dead of night after he vomited multiple times and had a tense stomach. They had him in and out in only a few hours. My cat is also an amputee and they handled him and his disability extremely professionally. Would recommend!

I do not recommend this vet. I came to them with a cat that was vomiting up a lot of blood & had awful diarrhea causing dehydration. I was told to bring the cat to the front door. I waited in the cold for this cat to be seen for 2 hours in that condition. I am very disappointed. I hope she makes it through the night, I have no choice but to wait until tomorrow to take her to a different vet. I have never met a more inconsiderate vet staff in my life. A staff member said I was going to abandon the cat there. I never said that nor would I ever do something like that.nnUpdate: I took the cat elsewhere. The office manager reached out because she wanted me to edit this review and take out the part about having an appointment. No concern for the cat. I was told I had an appointment, which was a mistake. So I did remove that part of the review since this is an emergency vet, they do not take appointments.nUnfortunately there was no ownership of what happened during the call. It seems that this review is more important than what happened to the cat and more important than how the staff lacked communication with me as they watched me standing outside.
