We brought our new 8 week old puppy to this location because we had moved closer. I first saw Dr. Weagley on 2/17. The vet tech seems more concerned on when I got her, how much I paid etc then listening to my concerns and taking notes. I specifically said I only wanted the bordetella vaccine today and I would come back next week for her second DTAP. I stated this multiple times. I stated that her litter mates came back positive for hook worms and said she was last treated on 2/7. Showed proof of paperwork and asked if they need a copy. My puppy goes in and the vet tech said “so we gave her bordetella, dtap and dewormer (pyrantel and that I was have to buy panacur to treat the wormers because the pyrantel (included in the plan) doesn’t treat hookworms” I explained that I specifically told her not to give dtap. She said oh well it’s included in the plan so it won’t cost you anything and walked in the back. I paid my bill and immediately called Banfield to fill a complaint. Dr Burke called me and was nice about it. Explained that it wouldn’t hurt my dog and that was that (beside the point, it was still given against my consent) but what could be done at this point? Now for the worms. I told them to call me after the results of the stool sample to see if I needed the panacur. No one called so I assumed I didn’t need any medication. Three weeks later I spoke to another vet at a different location who stated pyrantel specifically treats hook worms and round worms. That the pyrantel should be given every 21 days due to the life cycle of the worms. Panacur was not needed and the pyrantel was given too early. Now my puppy is still positive for hook worms and we have to pay to treat not only our puppy but our two other house dogs and our neighbors which adds up to over $300. I explained this to Dr. Burke and she basically said well that’s my fault I never came back for the medication (I was never told to do so) and that I should be able to afford the medication for all 4 dogs if I’m willing to have that many dogs. Complete negligence from these vets and lack of knowledge. If my puppy was properly treated for the worms to begin with I wouldn’t have to treat the other 3 dogs involved. If Dr. Weagley or the vet tech didn’t lie and say the pyrantel didn’t treat hookworms I wouldn’t be in this situation. Total lack of communication from this place. I’ve never even spoken to Dr weagley or know what he/she looks like. This was all communicated through the tech. Dr weagley was apparently too busy when I asked to speak the him/her after my puppies first visit and after being vaccinated without my permission.

I highly recommend Dr. Cosby at the Rockaway location. After seeing other veterinarians at this location, I decided to try a different Dr. to try a different approach for my pet’s urgent need. It was my 3rd visit within a two week period and after meeting Dr. Cosby I left with such relief. She took the time to examine my dog, and took the extra time to explain all of my options and recommendations. Dr. Cosby took the timento attend my urgency and took the time to understand my frustration today and did the best to make sure that I left with a positive outlook and with relief that my pet would get the best care. I’m so glad to have met her today and will continue to book my appointments with Dr. Cosby. Thank you Dr. Cosby!!!

The doctors, techs, nurses and front end staff are always very friendly. They explain everything and have taken great care of my little Chester for the past year. Even after purchasing heavy duty insurance that lets me go ANYWHERE I choose to come back here. Drs Burke, Weagley and Corsbie have always been patient and professional with me and have always listened to any concerns and addressed them appropriately. Doris in the front is always a pleasure to see, and always asks about Chess even if I'm only there to buy treats, toys, or pickup his flea/tick tablets. Their pet plan isn't the best...I've spent well well well over a thousand bucks out of pocket for x-rays and fecal samples etc, but that's not the staff's fault...As a medical professional myself I appreciate the care provided here. Thank you team Banfield Rockaway.

Great vet they took care of our dog that hurt her leg they were easy to deal with and helpful with payments. They ended up giving our dog pain killers for her hurt leg and she was enjoying herself.
