We had to say goodbye to our cat Elmer, and this place was wonderful about it. They made the experience bearable, gave us plenty of time to say goodbye, never rushed us, and we very friendly. We even got his paw print to take home with us along with his cremated remains. When the time comes for our other cat, we will bring him here, bc we know he will be well cared for. They even have a side door you can leave from so you don't have to walk by everyone while you are crying.
We recently had one of our ud83dudc15's Spade. The staff were all so helpful and nice. They not only answered any and all of the questions we had. Even more impressively, they took the time to follow up with us not only once, but several times since Emma's surgery. They called me just to ask how Emma was feeling, and I have received several texts asking how she is. What a great place to have take care of our girl. I will definitely refer my friends and family members. Thanks everyone at HSM,
I am terribly disappointed with the service we received at the Maryland Heights adoption center. The staff has no compassion for putting pets in loving homes. They are incredibly dedicated to following processes and will do so even if it is not in the best interest of the animals. I would strongly encourage you NOT use this facility if at all possible. I would also encourage those managing this facility to reconsider using policy as it's only method of decision making.
If you're interested in any animal there, be prepared to have them dismiss your application just because you didn't pick up the phone after applying online. There is ZERO indication (text or email) of when they will call you. When they do and you fail to pick up (for one valid reason or another), they immediately kick you off the list and you have to start all over again. A cat just lost out to a potentially good home because they value their own schedule more than any potential adopter's schedule.
What gracious employees. I can only imagine how difficult it is to run the business by people just dropping off their pet then parking. It was great; no problems. Doctor and Technician called me as needed. Great experience.
