We've gone to this vet quite a few times and the time before this they charged $50 to clip the nails of our small dog, saying he was difficult. The next time we took him to Petco and watched as he just stood there as the groomers clipped his nails without any problems. This last time after numerous emails and texts to schedule an appointment, we did. On the day of the appointment we arrived on time and like the last time, when only one person was allowed in my wife went to the door. We were waved off and went to the car. The assistant came out with a pricing list of what they wanted to do and said that they no longer allow anyone inside. Just give them the charge card and they'll take the dog. They seem to have mastered the reminders via email and text but don't seem to be able to articulate the new policy. If we had known beforehand we wouldn't have made the appointment. Now they're charging us $61 for appointment cancellation when in fact they're the ones who changed the procedure without telling us. Time to get a new vet.
Your animals care depends upon how much $$$$ you are willing to spend or have on hand. So if it's a real emergency, and you don't have the bare minimum, dont bother. It really is all about the $$$$ there. I'm not saying they dont have good veterinarians there or caring staff, your animals health is held hostage by what you can afford to pay. That doesn't pass the sniff test to me.
I was hesitant about switching vets (from suburban animal hospital to this one) but I really couldn’t stand it there anymore. I usually don’t write reviews but the staff here were awesome. They are clearly working hard to help animals during such a crazy time.nnLet me first say that I’ve had animals my entire life and they are like FAMILY. That being said I am extremely particular about how my animals are treated. I want only the best medical care for my animals and as such I am willing to spend whatever it takes to keep them healthy and happy. This hospital was recommended by a friend and I’m so happy I switched.nnThe prices are actually fair for a small clinic. The doctor there gave me an estimate before she did anything. They accept care credit which was nice although it does require a minimum charge. I will be recommending this place to my friends as well as transferring my other animals here. Just wish they accepted guinea pigs as patients but they sadly only see cats and dogs.
Our regular animal hospital turned us away because they were too BUSY to see our dog, who got grazed by a vehicle. They wanted us to go all the way to Cornell or Syracuse for an emergency.nnI called this hospital and they were able to fit us in immediately. The prices were alright, I just wish I could have gone inside when my dog was inside. They did a good job keeping me posted on his condition as well as breaking down the estimate and helping me apply for care credit.
Let me start off by saying this is the worst vet I have ever been to for multiple reason, but most importantly Dr. Brownstein is incredibly rude and insensitive. I brought my 6 year old boxer who had two lumps to get them tested while I was visiting my family in Rochester before I headed back to NYC. This was the only place that had an opening and it is much easier getting him to the vet with a car than it would be in the city.nnTo start off with, since only one person is allowed in at a time you are left waiting in the parking lot to come in. This is totally understandable due to COVID-19 restrictions except i waited for 40 minutes to be seen. When I got in I realized I did not have my care credit card and the number was on my phone, which died in the parking lot. I asked if anyone had a charger I could use so I could get the number. The tech was very nice and asked me to walk my dog back to the testing room since he did not want to go with her alone. I saw a charger and asked if I could use it while I waited to get the number, which they were fine with (this is reference in the picture attached.) But Dr. Brownstein was not welcoming at all and did not explain the process of what she would be doing and what I can expect. I asked to have the records sent to me so I can get them removed in NYC if needed. overall she was completely unwelcoming.nnWhen the results came back I received a call from the receptionist asking me where to send the results to. Despite the results showing he had a mast cell tumor, the doctor did not feel the need to call me to explain the results. When I asked to speak to the doctor so I can understand the proper recommendation she was beyond rude and disrespectful answering my questions.nnIt is very emotional finding out your dog needs to have tumors surgically removed and the way this was handled removed all sense of empathy from the situation. I was so upset i hung up on the doctor and sent an email expressing my disappointment. below is Dr. Brownstein's response. I have never been the type of person to leave a negative comment for anything, but she completely crossed the line and I would recommend that everyone keep their pets away from this place.
