Everyone I talked to was so kind and caring, everyone asked if I was okay. I miscarried a baby at home, and I thought cremation was out of the question since the baby was only 9weeks old. But they told me yes without hesitation. I can’t thank them enough for the peace they gave me.

In the past 3 months our sweet boy Smokey (rabbit) and our baby boy Charlie (dog) became terminally ill. The past week has been unbearable. We spoke to Ben in the early hours of a Saturday morning and he met us at Gent. Actually he waited for us. He was kind and gave us time to grieve. This funeral home was also used by a dear friend's family when he passed a few years ago. They cremated these very special loved ones and handled all arrangements in the most kind, heartfelt and respectful way. We appreciate their service. We would like to never call upon them again, but in a time of inevitable sorrow there is no other place we would go. Charlie, Smokey and Sean are at peace and will live forever in our hearts and memories. Thank you.nAngela & Jeff

I and my sister Debbie went to the crematory to see mom once last time. I was surprised: she was in remarkably good physical condition for what she'd been through, and what I was afraid I'd see. The cooler did a great job of preserving her.nnAs we visited with her, for the last time before she's cremated this evening, I stroked her hair, told her I loved her, and I was so very sorry, and how desperately I missed her. I kissed her goodby on the forehead, twice, because Debbie was too squeamish to kiss her goodby, and truthfully, Debbie is too short to lean into the cremation container without knocking the whole thing down, an undignified prospect for our mom.nnMr. Ralph Bowles and Mr Chris Wooldridge of Gent Funeral Home, in Alton IL did a wonderful job, draping linens to allow us to see mom's face while shielding us from any unpleasantness happening elsewhere. It was a sensitive act that touched both of us profoundly. Should you have the sad duty to arrange services for a loved one in the Alton area, Gent Funeral Home does a superior job.

Took my dad’s dog there last night, very late I might add. Spoke to Ralph over the phone and Ben met us at the home. Both were courteous and compassionate. I very much appreciated everything they did for our family.

Just had to put my 13.5 year old dog down monday.. gents was the place that pope vet hospital takes their animals.. the amount of respect and how my dog was returned to me was so beautiful.. really did a wonderful job.. thank you for taking care of Dylan.. meant so much to me.
