Most wonderful caring and compassionate people in my opinion

My dog went in for exploratory surgery the doctor called me while she was under and quoted she had a bad case of liver cancer that her liver was full of it and it wouldn't be fair to wake her up from surgery.I told him I couldn't do it and to wake her up I was just devastated and so upset I love my baby girl! My son was just devastated! I found out from the biopsies she in fact did NOT have cancer and her situation is curable and treatable mind you we had to wait 2 weeks for these results and were under the assumption she had bad liver cancer and was suffering and dying! Now had I listened to Dr. Cole she would not be here today!. I called to speak to him about it and told the receptionist his wife that I thought he would at least apologize and say he was wrong and made a mistake but he Did not. I have been going here for 18 years and still I have not received a call even after calling there myself to discuss how I felt. I understand he's only human we make mistakes but this is my dogs life! Part of our family!. I will not return . I thought we had a better relationship and that he cared about my pet. I guess not, it's all about the money and theres so much lack of compassion and empathy. This is a pretty big mistake for a pet hospital Owner and licensed Vet to make! Be sure you get a second opinion before you decide to put down your pet! You could have many happy years left! I wonder how many other pets hes put down that this has happened to! That's why I'm leaving this review. God Bless you and your furry loved ones!

If I could give them 10 stars I would. This is by far the best animal hospital I've ever been to. I've been repeatedly screwed around by other vets and ripped off multiple times. I was encouraged to contact Hillcrest after being informed that my dog needed $6,000 worth of surgeries to get another opinion and physical for my dog. Not only did they get me in right away, they discovered that I was basically being lied to once again and that my dog in fact did not need the surgery! Dr. Chris Cole was very professional, honest, up front and was able to back up everything he said. He could have put my dog under, cut him open, put stitches in and charged me for a surgery he didn't do, but he didn't and I can't thank him enough. I actually live near Chicago and it's a long drive ,but i will take my dog to him from now on for anything above routine. You can't put a price tag on a good honest veterinarian that cares more about your animals than how much money he can squeeze out of you.

I actually did not make an appointment but had a question that was answered over the phone by a technician. She was so very helpful, informative, and simple and direct in her delivery. I will most definitely choose Hillcrest for my future vet needs, hands down superior service to the clinics in the area.
