We brought our dog in after he was “attacked” by an unleashed dog during a walk. Everyone was polite, professional, and made us feel at ease. For emergency services, we thought the price was very reasonable and well communicated to us. If we were to have another pet emergency, we would not hesitate to bring our dog here again.
The team at the animal referral center is AMAZING! I cannot thank them enough for the amazing care my eight year old black lab Izzy received. They were kind caring and compassionate from the moment I called. When I had to leave her over night as a result of surgery the team was reassuring and encouraged me to call and check on her as often as I wanted. From the doctors to the technicians everyone was fabulous.
There are 2 parts to this review. The first part deals with having to explain the situation over 3 different times. Why people don’t write down the issue and share that issue with the other staff I will never understand. It is very frustrating when this occurs because it limits the trust you have in the care about to be delivered.nThe last part of this review is a feeling about being taken advantage of. Our situation was that our dog earlier in the day was sedated (at a different vet during normal biz hours) and it was appearing our dog was having troubles coming out of it. We felt we wanted to make sure there wasn’t a serious complication occurring and just wanted the piece of mind to get him checked out. The initial diagnosis was that all fine and it is just taking him longer than normal to get back to normal. Then, the upcharging occurred. They said it could be this other thing but Also said she doubts it but to be safe we should run X-rays. Really???? You know the X-rays won’t show anything but you suggest it and prey on the emotions of the pet owner who of course wants the best for the pet. Very ugly experience — X-rays came back normal but they got there extra $200 for the up charge. Nice work!
In August 2020 I brought my cat in because I was unable to get him in at the regular vet. He had been gagging repeatedly since the night before. Due to COVID, I was unable to go in with him. I had to drop him off & wait in the parking lot for calls from the staff. It took 2 hours before he was even examined, then another hour to do an X-ray. At this point they had found nothing wrong & wanted to do a blood test (which I did not agree to, but they did anyway). That was another hour, plus more time for fluids, medicine of some kind, and checkout. Overall, I was there for about 6 hours. But it gets worse. They required you to pay the bill over the phone before coming in to pick up the pet. I was on hold forever, then got the shocking total. It was over $700 and my cat was no better than when I brought him in. Yes, I got peace of mind against immediate danger and would have gladly paid a little extra to get answers. However, I ended up taking my cat to my regular vet the next day. Several office visits (including an overnight, another X-ray, medicine & sedated throat scope) cost a fraction of what this place ripped me off for. Besides the high charges, I thought the staff was unfriendly and didn’t seem to care. One star for being available in emergency situations, but the rest of my experience was not good.
This place blew me away with how fast they treated our cat and how thoroughly they treated him. For an emergency visit, the price is comparable to a normal visit at my hometown vet, so it was well worth the emergent price especially since covid has caused vet offices to be booked months out in advanced and our cat needed treatment that day. We went in for a recheck and we continued to have fantastic service!
