VCA Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals

My pup got his foot stuck in our recliner and almost took off his toe. This establishment took excellent care of him, explained things thoroughly to us, and did what we would expect and ER vet to do. While it was expensive, it cost less than we thought it would. My only feedback would be the wait time but it was handled appropriately and it ended up working out for the better in this scenario. Thank you for having such a professional and sympathetic staff & working hard to take care of animals in their time of need.

MY GOLDEN LAB SWALLOWED A VERY SHARP SHEET METAL SCREW TONIGHT, AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK HER INTO THE 24 HOUR VCA MILWAUKEE EMERGENCY CENTER ON HWY 100 TO BE LOOKED AT. THIS IS AFTER WE CALLED THE OTHER 24 HOUR ANIMAL EMERGENCY CENTERS AND WERE FAR FROM PLEASED WITH HOW THE OTHERS HANDLED THE SITUATION. ONE DIDN'T HAVE THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT (A SCOPE TO GO DOWN THE DOGS THROAT), ONE SAID TO WAIT AND IF IN THE MORNING SHES IN PAIN, THEN BRING HER IN, AND THE OTHER WAS TOO FAR AWAY.nnSO, I HAVE TO SAY THE WOMEN WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE THE SEVERAL TIMES I CALLED WERE MORE THAN PLEASANT AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. I CALLED THE HOSPITAL ON THE WAY TO THEM, AND THEY TOOK ALL MY INFORMATION SO ONCE I GOT TO THE HOSPITAL THEY WERE ABLE TO TAKE HER RIGHT IN. HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF THE COVID ISSUE, WE HAD TO WAIT IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN WE ARRIVED AND CALL THEM TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN COME OUT TO GET MY DOG. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT PLAN WAS THEY FORGOT ABOUT US BEING OUTSIDE. SO, 15 MINUTES WENT BY BEFORE I CALLED AGAIN, AND THIS TIME THEY CAME RIGHT OUT. AGAIN, THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND EXTREMELY USEFUL IN ANSWERING ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS. MY DOG WAS INSIDE THE HOSPITAL FOR ONLY 10 TO 15 MINUTES WHEN THEY CALLED WITH THE X-RAY RESULTS...EXTREMELY FAST X-RAY RESULTS! THEY FOUND THE SCREW AND WE WENT WITH A GAMEPLAN. 45 MINUTES LATER, THE VET CALLED AND SAID THE SCREW WAS OUT AND EVERYTHING WENT GREAT! THE VET WAS JUST AS HAPPY AND CONCERNED AS I WAS WITH HOW MY DOG WAS DOING. YOU COULD REALLY HEAR IT IN HER VOICE THAT SHE LOVES ANIMALS! 10 MINUTES LATER, WE HAD OUR DOG BACK, JUST AS PERFECT AS SHE WAS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED!nn*** I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS 24 HOUR ANIMAL HOSPITAL TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE THAT READS THIS REVIEW! ***nnSO, BREAKDOWN ON THE PRICE...TOTAL BILL WAS $504.55...$105.XX FOR THE EMERGENCY CHECK-UP, $ 256.XX FOR THE X-RAY, $60.XX FOR THE ENDUCED VOMITING, AND $90.XX SOMETHING FOR THE VOMITING MEDICATIONS. ALL IN ALL, NOT BAD CONSIDERING THEY HAD US IN AND OUT IN UNDER 1 AND A HALF HOURS. AND, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE IF IT WENT IN HER INTESTINES, OR WORSE POKED THROUGH THE INTESTINE WALL.nn☆☆☆ I AM SO VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE RECEPTIONISTS, THE TECHNICIANS, THE VETS AND EVERYONE WHO WAS INVOLVED! THANK YOU! ☆☆☆

Day after thanksgiving. Woke up, are dog was obviously not doing well. Brought him VCA they took the dog, we had to wait outside. Called us on the phone. “Doc” Said he thinks it’s hart failure not sure. Said he wanted to keep overnight on oxygen before performing X-rays said it would be over $2000 dollars. Asked if we could just do X-rays, he said no. Asked for the dog back, that cost $150. Left, went to the vet Down the street, vet took an X-ray right away said he had hart failure and was to late to save him. Oxygen therapy would just prolong his death. My Wife agreed VCA felt very unprofessional, cold & unfriendly environment, the overnight requirement felt like the were holding our dog hostage. Or they maybe didn’t have an experienced vet on staff at that time.

VCA Emergency was great. I took my dog in with concerns and they had answers and solutions immediately. They truly care about your pets wellbeing.

If I could give a zero star then I would. One of the technicians was snotty. I thought to myself that it was just a difficult day at work and I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Then the DR called me and was extremely extremely rude. All I wanted to know was how long my dog was going to be on antibiotics for (so i know when to expect to see improving.) He immediately said “Why does that matter you shouldn’t care about that it doesn’t matter.” Even if It doesn’t matter STILL GIVE ME AN ANSWER. All he had to say was ____ days.nnI also didn’t catch his name but he had an accent.
