West Mountain Animal Hospital

My cat, Pixie, became a patient here at West Mountain last year when we moved to Bennington. She was 18 years old and into her third year post chronic kidney disease diagnosis. Dr. Dana Ames and the entire staff impressed me with their compassion and professionalism, right up to the end - on August 20, when it became obvious that Pixie was having many more bad days and fewer good moments. Pixie was treated with love and respect, and so was I, which made all the difference at that very difficult time. I would recommend WMAH to anyone who loves their pet(s) and wants only the best care for them.

I have taken my dog to West Mountain Animal Hospital ever since we brought him home a year ago. We never had any serious problems with the service, but the amount of money they make you pay for simple check-ups is absurd. I was finally pushed to the point of actually changing our vet after I saw I was charged $20 for them to clean blood off of THEIR cage from my dog (who had cut his tongue pretty bad while chewing on a stick). That was on top of a $300 bill. Not to mention that my dog was pouring blood from his mouth and they were notified of this and still took 5+ minutes to come outside and get him from our vehicle. You also don’t get any sense of compassion from some of the people who work there. The woman who we had first spoken to when we arrived was very short with us, and asked us pointless questions like whether or not we were the owners. This was our first real incident that had happened to our dog and we were upset by the service we had received. I’m all for paying for what you get, but at this point it’s quite ridiculous and honestly disgusts me. We will not be returning.

We have had two emergency visits this month and the vets couldn’t have been more caring, responsive and capable. Many thanks to Drs Ames and Blau and to Mackenzie and Cassie for The exceptional care they provided in our time of need.

The compassion they have and show towards our pets is above and beyond. I feel I can completely trust them with my animals.

WMAH is by far the best vet I've ever chosen. They are beyond thorough and every single person I've encountered there from front desk to tech to doctor is so kind. I've had to make several emergency appointments, even one after hours on a weekend, and their prices are obscenely reasonable. I love them and even if I move, I won't ever go anywhere else.
