I have nothing but good things to say about City Paws. A few weeks ago, one of our dogs had an emergency and CityPaws took her in with no questions asked. Unfortunately, we had to put her down, but there is no other clinic that I would have wanted to go through that ordeal then at CityPaws. They were empathetic, caring, and gave us their honest opinion on what options were available to us. I highly recommend them and they are the only vet we will use in DC.

I truly love almost everything about city paws. Most importantly the doctors and veterinary technicians are fabulous both in technical competency and bedside manner with animals. My puppy is now 18 months and I've been taking her there since she was 10 weeks old. A few weeks ago, I was walking my dog and happened to pass the one of her doctors who addressed her by name and got down on the sidewalk and gave her a kiss and hug. For a vet in a busy urban clinic to recognize my dog two months after her last visit just solidified in my mind the fact that they really do care. My dog has seen several of the doctors at CityPaws and I love them all but I strongly recommend Dr White!nnDuring the quarantine, they were fantastic at explaining how the system would work where they would come out and pick up your dog, bring them inside and then call you as they're doing the exam.nnThey do not do emergency after hours service or complex surgeries here but they work closely with Friendship Animal Hospital and they share files electronically with them for emergencies.nnMy only minor complaint throughout the last 18 months has been it can be quite difficult to get somebody on the phone to make an appointment or ask a question. The (terrific) front desk people also answer the phones and it always seems so busy that they can't answer the phones and it goes to voicemail; it can take most of the day before they return a call. It would be nice if during busy times they could have somebody in a different room answering calls and making appointments. (It has been easier to get somebody on the phone during the quarantine but if we are ever back to normal I would love to see them add an additional phone receptionist).

I liked these guys a lot when I first started taking my dog to them. They're friendly enough, but I've had to wait over 45 minutes on multiple occasions throughout the years..I get that there are emergencies that take precedence, and I respect that, but my dog REALLY hates going there and needs to be sedated and muzzled. I always call before I show up to make sure we are on track for our scheduled appointment, but we always end up waiting, which in turn causes my dog to get more agitated.nnI recently moved and asked for my dogs records - what I found was incredibly unprofessional notes about me. My dog was very ill in June and not eating/violently throwing up for days. They could not treat him because he wouldn't go inside, even with sedation and a muzzle. This wasn't their fault - I was frustrated with my dog but ended up taking him to Friendship Heights to he could be seen. I was really scared because I was worried my dog was in really bad shape.nnI am appalled that they would put some really unnecessary notes into my dogs file...so insanely unprofessional. They're fine if your pet is easy going, but I would highly suggest another office if you have a scared pet like mine.

I took my american bully here two times being brand new to the city and a few blocks away I was very excited to find him a new veterinary. From the 2nd visit where my dog had an irritated eye they were very timid of him. Keep in mind my dog was just as scared being that I had to take him to the ER a couple days prior to this visit which was just a follow up. Anyways they attended to him and a few weeks later I simply wanted to talk to the vet about CBD options for my dog who shows extreme signs of anxiety. At which time the receptionist put me thru to a voicemail for the vet which stated in the voicemail that she was out of town. I hung up and called back and asked to talk to any vet about cbd options and i wasnt interested in leaving a voicemail for someone who was going to be out of town for two weeks. The receptionist told me that the veterinarian was still at her desk so she would put me thru to her again so I can talk to her and not to worry about the voicemail. I got put thru, it went to voicemail. I left a voicemail. And to no surprise I did not receive a call back. BEEN VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH THE TREATMENT AND SERVICE FROM SAID EXPERTS. Regret spending my good earned money here because they did nothing to make me or my dog feel welcome or like they even valued our business.

Doctors are amazing. Support staff leaves a little to be desired. On my last visit, the assistant said she was pregnant and couldn’t pick up my (petite 10 pound dog) so she decided she would drag my already scared baby across the lobby down the hall. When I brought it to the attention of the front desk nurse, she argued with me rather than apologize.
