Performance Bicycles

Unfortunately I have had a sub par experience with this place. I find some of the staff unfriendly and uninviting aside from Pam. I came in the other day to purchase my very first pair of clipless pedals and cleats. I told Wayne it was my first ones and I wasn't given any advice or tips on trying them out nor did he ask if I needed help installing them (I also purchased my bike here). All I was told was the difference between the very expensive pedals vs the ones that were on sale for a very good price (that Wayne right out said that he didn't recommend nor did he like them). That was a big turn off for me, I came in looking for something budget friendly and easy to use. I took them home and struggled to install them myself but was thankfully successful. I didn't realize how complex the cleats were to install to the shoes as obviously it was my first time. The lack of direction was very disappointing and I wished I went somewhere else where I was actually given the time of day. I no longer wish to go here as each time I've stepped into this place I have felt un welcomed.

I went in to look at buying a new bike and despite knowing he did not have the right bike to sell me (because of supply difficulties due to COVID) they spent nearly 30 mins answering my questions and giving me as much information as could to inform my buying decision. His goal was to help me find a bike that fit my needs, not to necessarily sell me a bike, and I truly appreciate that.

I started frequenting this store almost 20 years ago. Over the years (nI bought several different bikes) they have been fantastic at meeting my needs based on where I was in my level of exercise and fitness. Both Pam and Wayne and the staff are extremely knowledgeable on products, bike community and keep up to date on what is happening in the world of biking. They ensure that what you buy fits your need and that you are satisfied with your purchase, big or small. I totally recommend Performance Bicycles.

DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR BIKE FROM THIS SHOP! this is going back about 10 years ago when my wife and I purchased bikes for our wedding gifts to each other. The bike they sold my wife wasn't a proper fit (too big). I'm only saying it's too big cause a salesman at Yates street cycle stated the bike she bought was meant for a person who is greater than 6 ft and she is only 5"7. It doesn't stop there, my wife ended up falling off the bike and lacerating her leg to the bone cause performance bicycle never put the caps on the fenders when they cut them to size. We called the shop after she received 40 stitches on her leg and Pam rudely asked what we wanted. All we wanted was an apology eventhough this could have been a case lawsuit. Pam rudely said sorry and hung up on my wife. I know it's been 10 years or so but it still hurts us whenever we see the scar on my wife leg. To this day, she hasn't been able to properly ride a bike without being scared to that particular day. Back 10 years ago, one couldn't do reviews on Google like we can now. I just wanted everyone to know the experience we went thru with Wayne and Pam.
