The Book Man

Great store with great people! With COVID protocols being as they are, I’d requested a few books as well as some loose parameters as to what I was looking for and who the books were for. The staff did not disappoint! They were happy to help and made the process easy. If you’re looking for books- here’s the place, with the people to help you find them.

The Bookman is my happy place. Whenever I am out visiting family in Chilliwack it is one of the first places I go. Love the atmosphere and the selection and the cats!!! Also, the windows are always done up so cute. Can't wait to see you all again. Be safe.

Every book you need and a few books you never knew you needed are here. I always feel transported when I enter The Book Man, from a small town into a magical library. The shelves are overflowing with interesting themes and sections, but still neat and orderly with brand new titles up at the front. This place might have that wonderful "old book" smell, but there is no dust anywhere in sight. Due to Covid 19, lounging in the store is discouraged, but before social distancing was enacted this was a lovely quiet place to explore. If you sat in the chair long enough, the cat might come up and say hello. Prices are always fair and staff are friendly. A real treasure of Chilliwack.

Full disclosure: I work at this wee shop. Fuller disclosure: no one asked me to post this. Of my own accord, I want to share with potential customers (or "custies," as we affectionately call them) that this store and its humans are the salt of the earth. The owner is often working right on the floor with the other staff members, and tends to this shop as she would a family member (no wonder - it's a decades old family business). We're trained to drop anything to help customers with every inquiry, no matter how small. Simply put: the best "work family" I could ever have dreamed of, at a store that's a jewel at the heart of this town.

Visiting this bookstore has been on my to do list for years. It was everything I'd hoped for and more! Absolutely wonderful!
