5 stars for the staff who helped me set up my account and do day-to-day banking. You're great, kind, and accommodating. 1-2 stars for the staff who communicated with me via email and misled me about the 'perks' of transferring my TFSA and RRSP here. Glad I didn't go through with it. I think lots of people want to switch to credit unions to be more ethical, but you have to give them financial incentives that are least transparent from the start (it's understandable it's not as competitive as the big banks are) if you want people to let you invest large sums of their money. One of the staff involved in this kept trying to get me to lock in about 80% of my total savings with them, where I would be unable to touch it in any circumstance for almost two years, despite telling them that no, I can't do that for very serious personal reasons. It's not a smart move to lock in that much of your money, and especially not for such low interest rates. The amount I'd make in interest after almost 2 years is not worth the risk of having no safety net. So I am very disappointed in that very poor, very insistent financial advice. In general, don't listen to people who work at the bank for your financial advice. A lot of the time they are trying to profit off you more so than help you make smart decisions. That's how the business works. I probably sound like a Karen, but it doesn't matter. This is my honest opinion. I was spoken to with the assumption that I'm naive about finances and could be swayed into making a really bad decision. Jokes on them, I'm financially literate and knew to decline the agreement. And I think other people should be cautious about those kinds of bad deals.

Julie Mcleod has gone out of her way to help us with our house insurance needs. We would highly recommend her services and are disappointed that we can no longer work with her as we have moved to Alberta.

We’ve been dealing with CCIS for 15 years. Always received excellent help and advice on our insurance needs. When we did have an issue with an insurance claim, Coastal Community Insurance went to bat with the insurance company on our behalf and got us the service we required.
