Coffee is amazing and the staff are so sweet! They gave me extra milk because they were out of the cup size I ordered. I haven’t gotten a bike tune up here but I love the concept of cafe and bike repair. It feels like a lovely neighborhood cafe! I bike by here to work so I’ll definitely be back! Thanks for the lovely morning coffee!

Velo star is super cute and I love everything about it. Clint is a reputable bicycle mechanic and does quality work. The cafe serves good coffee (from Elysian brewing,) and makes great sandwiches. I recommend the breakfast croissant!

I came to this shop the first few times when it was Tandem café and I had an excellent experience; extremely friendly service, good coffee, and a high-quality tune up for my bike. My recent experience here was the exact opposite. First, they severely over-promised and then under-delivered on the time required for getting my bike a minor tune up. I was quoted pick-up on Aug 28 (4 days), but I was not able to pick up my bike until Sept 9 (12 days). I understand that COVID-19 is messing up basically everything so I’m not that offended. This wasn’t the worst part about my visit, it was the customer service that was abysmal. The person who accepted my bike was friendly and I have no complaints except for the inaccurate estimate about how long it was going to take to get my bike repaired. The other guy I had to deal with was quite rude. On Sept 2, I tried calling the shop about 3 times since I hadn’t heard from them about my bike. I couldn’t get through, so I went to the shop in person to check in. I really got off on the wrong foot with the guy working there.  He was working on a bike and completely ignored me, so I thought that maybe he didn’t see me or know that I was there. When I tried to say hi, he snapped at me and told me to wait 10-15 min. I said yes and nodded, but I guess he didn’t see me or hear me because he then snapped back at me again, saying “it’s a yes or no question!”. I mean, he’s near the back of the shop, I’m wearing a mask, and there’s traffic noise, so I can’t hear him very well and I guess he couldn’t hear me, but that’s no excuse for that kind of response. After I waited for him for about 15-20 min, he informed me that they didn’t pick up the phone because they hadn’t charged it that day, and that he couldn’t give me a more accurate time estimate for when my bike would be ready except that there were still 5 bikes ahead of mine. Fine, whatever. I didn’t need it right away. Come pick up day, when I stopped by the shop the same guy was there. He was eating (lunch break I guess), and said that the other person at the shop would help me once he came back from a test ride. When I asked how long that would be I couldn’t hear him very well and had to ask him to repeat himself a few times, so he got annoyed with me again. The other guy that showed up after the test ride was ok, he was curt and cut me off after seeing my yellow pick-up slip to ask what colour my bike was, but at least he acknowledged me when he got back from the test ride before he entered the shop. I finally got my bike back and I’m so relieved to be finished with that shop. They have good prices and so far I’m happy with the tune up work - I only rode it a few blocks to work but it feels smooth, shifts well, and they did clean it up nicely - but I will gladly pay an extra $5 or so at any of the nearby shops in the area to not have to see them again. I can’t comment on the café side of the business this time, because I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. They really made me feel like I wasn’t welcome or wanted there, and after that experience I’m more than happy to oblige.

Wish I could give more than 2... the coffee is always great, but this cafe manages to be the absolute slowest place to go. On more than 1 occasion I've been waiting in a line of no more than 2 people, only to wait over 10 minutes to place an order. most times I just walk away. Once you do manage to order, it can take an eternity just to get a simple beverage like an iced coffee. The location is cute, people are friendly - but this place needs to speed up!

I’m a front line hospital worker and have a short break. The lady at the store had me wait outside while she had a “meeting” with her coworker. Okay I get it...but if you know I’m standing outside for a while (which she did cause she told me) then at least acknowledge me and tell me that it’ll be a moment instead of have me go into the store all so they can tell me to go back to the window for service. Def won’t be going back.
