Chapters

The last of the chain bookstores in my area. Chapters has evolved into a book/gift store pretty successfully. People working there are adequate retail types. Fairly decent selection of books, excellent selection of magazines.

My experience was great! Terrific convo with the manager. Tall, young, from Toronto. Sounds like he has made this job a career. Excellent personality. I should have asked his name so that I could credit him. We talked about how rude the general public can be!! No kidding. But a huge pet peeve of mine. Nice human being. I was making the comments about the public. This employee (I think mgr!! - he should be!! late 20's or early 30's) listened and was friendly and helpful!!

I go to this chapters a lot, and the staff are really nice and knowledgeable, but this one employee, Asha, is sooo helpful and constantly does more than expected and seems to know about the best books and always helps me find stuff, even when they’re busy she really tries to make every customer happy. But with all the staff I’ve never had a bad experience here. Lachlan (I think his name is), is really friendly too.

This is an OK Chapters. Nowhere near as diverse selection as Chapters on the mainland but that's to be expected I suppose. Didn't appreciate being treated like a criminal when I tried paying with cash. I was wearing my mask which they now encourage via signage, and handed the cashier my cash. She took a big step back and looked at me like I was a threat and put her hand up and said "ma'am I'm going to have to ask you to take a step back". So I did, and she said she can't accept cash, do I have another payment method. Unfortunately I had left my wallet at home and did not. She did a heavy sigh and said no more, then proceeded to move to another till and put gloves on to take my cash payment. I just think it's a total overreaction to the use of cash and could be handled with more grace and compassion for people's various financial circumstances.
