Eurolex Trains (05/26/2020)

It’s an Nice Quiet Station. Also has the West Coast Main Line Running Past, but has a fence so you can’t do much Trainspotting. The Facilities are Ok, with A DMI (Dot Matrix Indicator) which Tells you the next train. The Trains aren’t very Frequent and there isn’t any Step Free Access.

Since covid, it's back to normal. Hand sanitizer available on entry. Signage shows times before and after you get to the platform. Small uncovered waiting area. Trains now run 4 times an hour. You can get the Metro and Evening Standard there to read. Easy access to Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre. Staff on hand ask at the window. You can nearly always get a seat at anytime. But if they have cancelled a train or fast trains aren't running from Euston it can be busy.

Step free access to the platforms is not possible at this station. It's only accessible via stairs which, at least for platform 1, felt of inadequate build quality and very creaky. A ticket office is part time open in the weekday mornings however outside of these times, there are a few ticket machines available from where you can purchase tickets. Services here usually run every twenty minutes throughout the day towards Euston, Willesden, Harrow and Watford Junction. Apart from watching the various trains which pass by on the main lines, the station doesn't offer much else to do as the station lacks other facilities.

Trains every 20 minutes to Euston and Watford Junction could be vastly improved by increasing the frequency. The 31 bus route vaguely serves the station, announcements prioritising Loudoun Road over South Hampstead Station. While being a middling walk from Swiss Cottage on the Jubilee Line, I must say that South Hampstead is almost my favourite place to nap, coming second to my bed. Watching fast trains fly past can relieve the boredom when waiting for your train. Great little station, criminally underserved.
