On Wednesday 22-Oct-2014 the first passenger train since 14-Dec-1964 ran into Corwen East (temporary) station. The occasion marked the official completion of the trackwork running the full 10 miles from Llangollen station to the buffer stop at Green Lane, Corwen. Ever since that historic service reinstatement, the Llangollen Railway Trust team have been working towards providing a more permanent Corwen terminus. The extension of the Llangollen Railway to Corwen required that there be the construction of a new Corwen platform and canopy, refurbishment of the old signal box, a new underpass beneath the extended railway, a new water tower requiring a substantial foundation and many related areas of specialist structural engineering support. STOP PRESS: Latest update in Sep-20 brings news of significant progress with the engineering team supplying and erecting the fabricated steel-work for a new on-platform waiting room, forming an oblong box within the area of the proposed waiting room with provision for services to toilets etc., already plumbed-in. With the steel-work in-situ, the preparation of the surrounding area can be further progressed [tbc].

I'm looking forward to when the line from Llangollen is fully up and running into Corwen station, It will i'm sure be a boost to the local economy.

The Llangollen team were great hosts for a group of our Scouts setting a new world record #railwayrecord to raise funds to go to the 2019 world Scout jamboree. Thank you so much for your help. The permanent station is currently being built next to the car park, so you need to walk a short way to the temporary station. Loads of history, and a superbly scenic route. Good little shop, friendly, helpful staff and well worth a visit.
