Newington station ticket office is only open from 0610-1000 Monday to Friday, at other times use the ticket machine on the platform. The station area was widened in 1959 to increase the number of lines from 2 to 4 as part of the Kent Coast phase 1 electrification scheme.
Small station but with reasonable size car park. There is a ticket office but only open at peak times. Only ever seen staff at the station when ticket office is open. No toilet or refreshments but biggest problem is no disabled access to platform 2 (coast bound) The only way to platform 2 is over the foot bridge with more than 20 steps each side.
