A small unmanned station, once named Ansdell’s Gate or Halt, after the artist Richard Ansdell who lived nearby. The station is clean & tidy with pretty flower beds maintained by local volunteers. There’s a waiting shelter and ticket vending machine. Tickets can also be bought on the train. Single line track with hourly trains between Preston and Blackpool South. Step-free access is via a long winding ramp from Woodlands Road. The station is located in Ansdell, an area between the towns of Lytham and St. Anne’s on the Sea. It’s situated at the southern end of the Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Course of which the track runs alongside. Inland of the station is Ansdell where there is an Institute, Library, Schools, Pub, Shops & Supermarket. Ansdell is also the home of Fylde Rugby Club. Seaward of the station is the district of Fairhaven, just a 5 minute walk to the beach and Fairhaven Lake.
Basic station and a bit dull.
