I do not like giving less than positive reviews, but feel this needs to be addressed. I lost an etap battery and needed a replacement. I shopped around on line, but decided to give a local bike shop a chance at my business. (Support your LBS). I called the shop and spoke to Dave , he told me the battery would be $50, but they had none in stock and it would be September 4th before their vendor would have them in stock again. September 1st I called to check status, left voice mail, and later in the day Dave called back to let me know battery was in. I asked to verify price and he said he did not have it readily available. I told him he had quoted me $50 at time of order. When I went in to pick up battery, Dave finally found the price, $85. That is $35 dollars more than the price I was quoted when I ordered. My issue is, I could have had an original e tap battery on line for $55 in 2 days delivered to my door. When I call for a price and get quoted a price, I don't think it unreasonable to expect that it is what I pay when delivered. Sad to say I was disappointed and will not order again from them.

I took my bike in for a tuneup after years of use and it ended up in great condition at a good price. I had the chain and seat replaced, and fenders added. I was only going to have the crankshaft rebuilt to fix a slight wobble, but when they took it apart, they found that the bearing was disintegrated. So to fix that they decided to replace the bearing which also meant a new left crank arm because it would collide with the side of the bike otherwise (the bearing was different geometry). Once I got my bike back, all was fine until the left crank arm fell off while I was peddling. They replaced the arm and fixed it for free, but when it fell off again, they replaced the whole crank/spindle assembly with a newer, better one (at no extra cost). Everything rides very smoothly and quietly now. The only problem is that I have to keep it in my dorm at night now because I am afraid someone might steal it!

Good place to get your bike serviced. I brought mine in for an adjustment and it took about 10 days, was cheap at $20, and my bikes shifts pretty decently now. Most of the bikes for sale look pretty high end and are priced as such.

I am never disappointed in any visit or interaction with Dave Meadows at Hodson's Bay. After repairing a wheel with about 5000 miles on it for the third time (post wreck and blown spokes), Dave and team built a new wheel with an increased spoke count that should handle the miles and wear and tear better. They also tuned up my bike and it is riding just like new!

My friend and I came in for the first time ever to get gears checked. We were new to cycling and clueless. The place is a lot bigger and more spacious then I thought. Right away got assistance. The staff was very friendly. There is a nice waiting area or you can browse for items while waiting on your bike.
