Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Chicago Southeast/Hammond, IN

Our stay was very welcoming from the start. We arrived around 5 and check in was fast, simple, and convenient. As we made our way to our room, I could smell the must and marijuana like other reviews prior had stated but other then the must, the smell didn't bother me much.nnOur room was nice and cool when we got in and I started checking the room for anything that would be considered a no go but came up empty. No stains and very clean. You could tell the surfaces were very clean.nnRoom service is friendly and always says hello when we walk by in the mornings.nnOnce again, this hotel creates a very comforting atmosphere.

Good location off of the highway. Not too much road noise. Rooms were large and clean, shampoo and conditioner are Paul mitchell and real nice. Bed was comfy.

This is definitely not what was expected from a hotel with the Marriott name on it. They have a mold problem in their ventilation system and now say they will only refund 1 of 2 nights just for my family when my entire baseball team stayed there for a tournament. We have photos from every room, so they will be hearing from the other families. I have always chosen Marriott, but this definitely was the end to that unless it is taken care of properly. This building should not be in service while they have Courtyard closed due to Covid. This hotel is currently an economy inn for $200 bucks a night! Absolutely disgusting and expect more if I ever get this resolved.

Black mold in the AC! Take a look before you book here. Made our throats hurt and made the rooms smell less than a wet sandbox! Unacceptable! The pool was closed and was probably the cleanest place in this hotel. We moved the furniture, debris and crumbs galore! Also 4 people booked per room and they will only give us 2 towels! Come on!

This hotel has gone down considerably. We were travelling from FL to WI to move our daughter via cargo van. We dropped her off and went home to Chicago to see family and friends, so we checked into the hotel around 1:00am. Upon arrival I asked the front desk clerk, Daniel, are they doing any additional cleaning because of Covid-19. He said very smartly, if we weren't doing what we should have been doing before, why would you stay here now? Mind you, I just asked if they are taking extra precautions - that's it. Then, when we went to the room, it smelled musty and stale. I travel with a black light, so I took the sheets off the bed and the mattress was horrifying - big stains everywhere. I'm sure that's partially where the smell came from. I went to wash my hands after touching the mattress and the bar of soap (in a box) had black stuff in it. I dropped it and realized it was ashes. When I took it to the front desk, Daniel never said a word, just started typing on the computer. After waiting, I asked for another bar of soap. Realizing we could not take the smell, we decided to leave. When I asked Daniel for proof that my credit card would not be charged, he wrote it on a piece of paper, tore it off and gave it to me. We ended up driving back to Madison to stay with our daughter before travelling back home to FL. I called the GM before writing this review and she apologized.
