Residence Inn by Marriott Salem

Very good people work here. The place is always clean. They make sure their guests are comfortable. I will stay here over any other hotel in town and I've been to most hotels in the salem area.

Spoke to office- they were very helpful and were kind enough to extend my checkout to 6 pm because of a death in the family that was causing us to have a difficult time packing up and staying focused.nOther guests were very impolite though.nAlso, I loved their tea and hot cocoa station a lot!

I stayed here for over a month for work. I usually like Residence Inn, but this is the worst major chain hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff at the front desk are not attentive and you have to yell into the back office for anyone to address you most days. Their demeanor is generally unfriendly. I don't think anyone ever smiled in that lobby. Occasionally I even got a grimace.nnThe room was clean enough, but the toilet didn't flush unless you held the handle for several seconds. The toilet seat also wouldn't stay up because the toilet was installed too close to the wall and pushed the tank lid too far forward. I had to remove the tank lid for the duration of my stay.nnI had to request multiple times before my room would be cleaned and even then it wasn't very thorough. A lot of trash was left behind and the toilet paper, shampoo, and soap were not refilled. The cleaning staff were also generally unfriendly when I said hello or good morning I was just ignorednnI was there long enough to need to do my laundry multiple times. There is no laundry service and you have to pay to use the machines which are in horrible condition. There are two washers. One washer shredded to pieces and left thousands of plastic fragments all over my clothes which was a nightmare to remove by hand. I told the front desk and they let is sit there and didn't have it repaired. That's when the second washer also broke leaving no usable laundry facility onsite. On top of that, one of the dryers was somehow filled with water which had turned green. And there was always a pool of water on the ground.nnI don't have anything nice to say about this dreadful hotel. There are a lot of problems, but this place seriously needs a change in management.

First time staying at this particular hotel. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were spacious enough to be comfortable. Plenty of storage areas in rooms. Spacious bathroom. Numerous outlets for charging devices. WiFi available but I didn’t connect to it.nnFitness center and pool were available for use (with certain restrictions). Handicap accessible. Ample parking. Main office location was not immediately or easily recognized from parking lot until driving further back.nnI would have given five stars, except ...nnI was disappointed that the front desk concession area did not offer more items for purchase for meals. Such as microwaveable meals to make it more convenient for guests.nnBreakfast consisted of an orange and stale muffin. Again, a little disappointing.nnHowever, even with the couple of things I wasn’t a fan of, I’d still definitely stay at this property again and will prepare accordingly to make up for the shortcomings on available food.nnI would recommend.
