Hilton Garden Inn Secaucus/Meadowlands

The staff was friendly and the booking was relatively easy. However, when researching online, I checked the regular rates and then checked for military/government discount rates, they were actually pricier than the normal rates. I cannot fathom why the rates were hiked. After a 17 hour drive, we just wanted to rest. The first night was good, but the morning after we woke up at 6:30 AM or maybe earlier to ridiculous sounds of construction behind the building. This information would have been great to know when checking in. The noise from traffic was not an issue, as we are originally from the area, but the construction noise was awful, especially since we were not given a heads up. We nearly had heart attacks when the noise started and we jumped out of bed. The bathrooms are a bit outdated. On our last morning, I was getting ready in the bathroom and all of the sudden saw something running down the bathroom door, it was a pretty big roach that I was able to swat with my flip flop. We grabbed our stuff quickly and left. I just hope we didn’t get any in our luggage. I’d rather stay at a friend’s house next time we’re in town.

I absolutely loved the room. My boyfriend and i enjoyed the space. The ONLY issue i had here was the cleaning women yelling their distaste for the guest and how disgusting everyone is. Two days in a row we woke up to the cleaning women calling guests names while they fixed the rooms. I’d highly consider getting new cleaning women. We wanted to stay another night but sr didn’t feel comfortable with how spiteful these women sounded. Orlando was a pleasure though.

Stayed 3 nights, some of the best customer service I've ever had. The only problem I had was with spiders. I received several bites on my back and face. Yes I know it was a spider because I killed the one on my face. I contacted the hotel and was called back by the manager. He said he would get with the exterminator and call me back. Never heard back so I just went to the Dr and got treated for a random spider bite allergy. My face and back were swollen for 4 days. That was a week ago today. Had this not happened I would have given 5 stars.

Shout out to staff at this location Joel, Lisette and Orlando. Great help and truly making the hotel feel like home. Very professional towards my family and additionally, watching them interact with other guests at the hotel, very knowledgeable about the area. Free parking and plenty of it. Close to shops, shopping, restaurant, NY, and the sports complex.
